I need to find a dentist for my son in the Central Georgia area, {Bibb,, Baldwin, Houston...etc}

We did use Dr. Peace, but he stopped doing special needs children and now I'm desperate.

I had my son all set up for a cleaning, his first in awhile, and the day before they called and cancelled. It really upset me that they just cancelled like that.

Tucker needs his teeth cleaned very badly and I just wish I could find someone that would see him locally.

Does he accept medicaid? And how does your son do going? I am so nervous about this.

The first time Tucker had this done he was put in the hospital and he got very sick afterwards{ended up back in the ER dehydrated!} and I have put it off for several years. I simply don't know how he will do.

Yes, I called then yesterday. I was informed they don't take children over the age of 6. I am getting desperate here! I am so tired of calling around only to find out I am out of luck!

Why can't these people make exceptions for special children. Can I help it that we used another dentist first, that now, for some stupid reason{in MY opinion} won't see my child. Can I help it he canceled on me the very day before my son was to have his teeth cleaned. To say the least, I am extremely frustrated right now!

We tried this dentist yesterday and it was an awful experience! We

were kept waiting for over an hour, which was no fun with an autistic

nine year old and not even a magazine in the waiting room. The

dentist walked in with a mask already on his face and tried to examine

my son. He didn't try to get him to warm up to him or explain

anything that he was going to do. We never did see the face of the

dentist...I have no idea what he looked like! Also, their method of

dealing with the disabled is to bind them using various types of

restraints, automatically making the patient more combative. We would

not give consent for the restraints, Jake never needed them at

Levitas's office so the exam did not happen. I would not recommend

this dentist to anyone.

Dr. Rondeno who has an office called Denistry for the Developmentally

Disabled, or the DDD Foundation. She only sees kids and adults with

disabilites, and has special certification for that. She takes

insurance, Medicaid, Peachcare,or sliding scale fee for everyone else.

I take my son to her. Unfortunately, he goes ballistic at the site of

a dentist chair and so she gives him an intramuscular injection, and

he sleeps a few hours to get his cleaning and such. It is a real pain

to have to do all of this, but alas there is no other way. She will

try to see your child the first time with no sedation or anything, to

see how they will do.

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one to have had an awful experience. I think we should find out who we can report these people to. We had the same experience, never talking, actually yelling at my child and then restrained her. Which I hate myself for letting them do that. Also our ped's and nerou, told us the sedation they use is not to be done in the office. These people have no experience with how to help / handle our children with care.
