Guest guest Posted October 24, 2004 Report Posted October 24, 2004 Why would I start getting sick after 18 years? It all started after I had my 2nd child in 2000. I have had both my children while working there. I do notice that the second one is more " aggressive " then the first, but isn't that more the norm with more than one child? If this is the case, would it ever go away even after quitting my job? Maybe I should mention this to endo? > >>Sheet metal shop<< > > Trichlorethane... BAD news fir your thyroid~ this is three parts chlorine and one part ethylene... It is THEE most common solvent & CLEANER used in manufacturing, especially metal working. I used ot work (MANY eons ago) for Ethicon Medical Supplies I was a needle inspector for opthalmic needles. Very interesting job, but scary in what the let go through! Anyway I started getting sick as soon as they put me on the inspecting job. I had my container of " oil " (that's what everyone thought it was) by my machine, and as the needles came down the line I would spray them off wiht this oil, and check them inder a microscope for flaws & sharpness. My job was not so much quality control as hollering at the machinist if there was more than a few bad needles so he could adjust the machine. After 6 weks if deathly illness. My doc started looking for allergens. Asked me where I worked & told me ot get MSDS sheets on everything I used. Well I already KNEW I was allergic to chlorine! I had been breathing that spray for the whole time I worked there. I is amazing it didn;t kill me! I quit the nextday and told them why. They wouldn't move me ot another part of the factory as I had so many sick days they really didn't want me there! LOL So I went nback to work in kennels where I only have to avoid a jog of Chlorine THERE to descent the runs. Most kennels have been good in letting me find another disinfectant/odor killer that was safe for me ot use. Now all these years later, my hypothyroid cat is sensitive to chlorine too! When he drinks chlorinated water, he gets horrible mouth sores. > > Artistic Grooming > Hurricane, West Virginia > > > --- > Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. > Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). > Version: 6.0.782 / Virus Database: 528 - Release Date: 10/22/2004 Quote
