Guest guest
In addition to being the Mom of a daughter, now 15, who has OCD, I'm also a clinical social worker. Most of the p-docs I know and work with start with the hope that the child will only need to take meds for 6 months or so. Depending on the child, this is usually modified to meet that child's needs. Having given you the " best case " scenario, has been on meds since age 9 - first prozac then luvox, which she now takes. Along the way we've added in respirdal and changed it to seroquel. and I both understand that she may need to be on meds for the rest of her life. But both of us agree that this would be far better than sinking back into the black hole of OCD! BTW, I have been on anti-depressents for the last 15 years!
