Dr.P said that she didn't lose any ground after being out of her cast for almost three months, thank goodness. He said that he had gotten her back down to a little less than her last cast in September! I asked him for the degree but bless his heart he'd done four casts this morning and couldn't remember her exact measurements, I guess after doing that many in one morning he was lucky to remember her name! lol They have always given her meds to relax her so that they could take her back, but this morning I opted to walk her back myself and hold her while they gassed her! She did so much better that way, wish I'd have done it sooner because she pukes the meds back up and the shots make her nausiated afterwards. Atleast going back I did get a peek at the table, I've always wanted to see it in person. I did get to tell two of the other cast moms about our group! I hope they spread the word and join! Guest guest
He hasn't said anything about another brace yet. I asked him whether he was going to have to cast her till he could fuse like we originally thought or if she would eventually hold the curve at a lower degree. He said that he didn't know yet since she was only in her 7th cast. Two of the kids getting casted yesterday were in there 12th and 15th cast! The little girl in her 15th was 7 years old and the other was going to turn 5 in her 12th cast! I hope Nora doesn't have to have that many but if she does when she starts school the other kids may get football tackled when she gets mad! lol I was wondering if anyone knew of a child that had to have more than 15? Guest guest
Thanks ! The nurse would only have to touch her tounge with the syringe and she would start to vomit, more would come up than went down. Sounds gross I know, but it helped. If the new moms join, pls tell them to mention your name and I’ll let them on asap. ( I screen potential members in order to keep us all safe, no pervs allowed). Congrats! And, thanks a lot for telling them about CAST. Hope everyone is doing well! TonyaAsheboro, ncmother of Nora,37th cast, less than 15 degrees
Guest guest
Thanks ! The nurse would only have to touch her tounge with the syringe and she would start to vomit, more would come up than went down. She fought the dr. while she was holding the mask over her mouth but not as bad as I thought she would! The best part was getting to see the table in person and the environment which they do it in, We couldn't ask for better staff! Greenville Shriners rocks!! I love docs that get their hands dirty with plaster! Excellent news about Nora! That’s great that she wont have to take versed, again…Honestly, it is the worst medicine that I have ever had. I would actually have a wet washcloth ready for Liv once they gave the versed. I would immediately wash her tongue off with it to get that fowl taste out of her mouth, to try to prevent the vomit. Guest guest
Jane, they tried mixing it with tylenol with Nora too but she ended up with more coming up than went down! When they did get some in her it would take her the rest of the day to stop being groggy and she would get sick afterwards.
