It's pretty good stuff. We implement it in with our ABA program. It's helped quite a bit. A person should be trained tho, the books are great but a little difficult to implement teaching techniques if you haven't had a bit of training or coaching. They are having a conference in Fl this weekend on RDI as well.

RDI

Does everyone know about this ?

Hello , Thank you for having been a strong supporter of the Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) program. As you know, groundbreaking events are happening in the field of Autism. Lives are truly being changed.

But there are still many people who do not know about RDI and others who have misconceptions. We believe now is the time to introduce RDI to everyone involved in the autism spectrum that you care about. Everyone with a child on the spectrum, everyone working with people on the spectrum and every adult on the spectrum should know about RDI.

So I am asking for your help.

Raleigh, NC - 2-day workshop - Feb 21 & 22

In the next week, you will be receiving a few brochures in the mail (snail mail) about my upcoming 2-day RDI workshop in Raleigh, NC, the weekend of February 21 and 22. Please give them to people you know with an interest in the autism spectrum. If you need more brochures, just email me back and I will have as many more brochures sent out as you want.

In the meantime, please talk to or email people you know. Ask them to log onto our website:

http://www.rdiconnect.com

and let them know I will be in your area next month. The NC workshop brochure is already on-line as a downloadable .pdf from the home page (right hand side), if it is more convenient for you to share it that way with on-line contacts. Please help me spread the word.

Our research clearly demonstrates the power of the RDI model to dramatically change the lives of children on the spectrum:

In our recently completed study, 17 children undergoing RDI were compared to 14 similar children receiving more than twice the amount of behavioral intervention.

In an average of less than 18 months, 70% of the RDI children improved their diagnosis, (from Autism to Autism Spectrum or Non-Autism).

They also showed dramatic gains in communication and social interactions and were able to function independently in a normal classroom. Not a single child in the comparison group achieved these changes.

This is the first study ever to demonstrate that a clinical intervention method can change children's diagnostic classification on the ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule).

This is an initial study and the research paper points out a number of reasons to limit conclusions. However, there is no doubt that RDI has been proven to be an extremely powerful method of addressing the core deficits of autism spectrum conditions.

People on the spectrum can have rich, meaningful lives.

Now is the time for RDI!

Come hear the new material: "RDI 2.0"

If you haven't attended one of my workshops before, I invite you to come out next month. If you have previously attended, I welcome you back for a "refresher course." In fact, we have learned so much over the last year, I consider this presentation, "RDI 2.0."

Please talk to people you know and extend my invitation to them. As many of you know, my new year's resolution is to reach 10,000 more people to help open the doors of friendship to people on the autism spectrum.

Thanks so much for your help,

E. Gutstein Ph.D.

I have been to two of Dr. Gutstein's introductory workshops and I

have been to his clinic (The Connections Center) in Houston for his 4-

day assessment training. I know how to give the assessment, but am

trying to get out there for his other trainings.
