Guest guest Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Hi I'm the mom who posted the question on the day of an appointmnt with the gp, wondering if I should bring the info on rashes and PANDAs. In the end I had so many questions about so many things, plus a big long arguement with ds about getting his needle (failed) and the clock ticking on our 15-minute appointment that I didn't have time to address the issue. My take on it though was that she'd have no idea. But we've been ignoring the issues for so long and they've been getting worse that I've decided to set up another appointment with the pscyhciatrist whether he wants to or not. I just feel so bad for him going through life totally confused about the quick witty teen conversations that he just can't follow (Aspergers) and at the same time all this worry flying around in his head. I feel like I need to rescue him somehow. The posts about poop jokes and enforcing a wipe-once-or-twice rule have me interested. My son (he's 14) feels like he has to say " good night mom Good night dad, I love you both very much " three times at night - or he thinks something bad will happen during the night. It's not such a bad thing, I guess, except that he goes to bed when we do now, yells it across the house - pause - yells again - pause - and again, which drives us batty and I've got two other kids trying to sleep. We tried explaining why he can't do that, that it wakes everyone else up, to no avail. Tried ignoring. Makes no difference. Does anyone have any suggestions? (This is just one of his ocds, but I figured it might be one we could tackle first). Another question: last time we tried CBT with the psych, he said all that talking about it made it worse. I think he meant the tics, though the line between tics and ocds is pretty thin. I'm worried that if we take him back to her, it'll get worse again. Does anyone else experience this? Leigh Ann asked if any of our kids are disorganized and forgetful - YES! I'm sure it has a lot to do with the mess of thoughts flying around my son's head - it's like he's always distracted. Is yours like that too? Unfortunatley, we've not come across any solutions - just lots of reminders. kim Quote
