Guest guest
I have been soooo tired lately, and maybe I know why! I finally got my labs faxed to me. Too many tests to post all of them, don't even know what most of them are... he did a comprehensive matabolic panel, and a complete blood count, and while most figures were in the 'in range' column, some of them were barely there. But here is one number that was in the 'out of range' column. FERRITIN: 9 EXPECTED RANGE: 10 - 220 Yup, I have a big whopping 9. My Thyroid panel was not as good as it has been. No free T3 was run this time...ugh! TSH is <0.1, with a reference of 0.3 - 5.1. This is actually up for me from 0.04 in April, so I don't even bat an eye at that. FT4, however. 0.68 reference 0.73 - 1.95. That is dropped from 0.8. Now in April, my FT3 was 355, with a reference of 230 - 420. I'm going to assume it has dropped some also, just as all else has. I have been awfully tired lately, the headaches had returned full force. So the nurse calls before she faxes and says: we want you to decrease the armour to 60mg, continue the unithroid, and we will retest in 6 weeks. Duh... no, I don't feel comfortable with that. You did not test my Free T3, I was not even taking the Unithroid when these tests were taken, my Free T4 is under the normal level, we don't even know where my Free T3 is, I am very tired, plus you increased my dosage of Topamax and we don't know how that affects the thyroid meds. I'll wait till we test again in six weeks before we do any tweaking of any more thyroid medications. Nurese: Ok. Sheesh!!! Cathryn
Guest guest
Huh!! You know, don't you, that they're not even going by the thyroid hormones, they're going by the TSH. Unless they think that you are a good converter, but I don't know how MUCH T4 they added. Didn't they even say ANYthing about you needing to take iron NOW?! Guest guest
No!!! No mention of iron, supplements, nothing. I noticed the Ferritin when the labs were faxed to me. The nurse never even mentioned it. She told me all my labs were normal, except my thyroid panel was high! I had a total T3 run, not a free T3. The total T3 was 206, reference 90 - 200. Big deal. My Free T4 has been consistently low, at the bottom of the range since starting Armour. So I just got on the Unithroid, to increase it. The day of this blood draw for these tests I got the Rx for 25mcg of Unithroid, so these tests are on my 90 mg Armour alone. FT4: 0.68 Range: 0.73-1.95 Now its below range TSH: <0.1 Range: 0.3-5.1 No FT3, but both those others are down from the last test, so the T3 probably is also. I say AFTER my initial six week period on the Unithroid, we can do some tweaking of meds. I bet we tweak UP. Lord knows after 20 years of being through this $h!+ I'm intelligent enough to recognize hyper symptoms when I experience them... if it happens, I'll share!!! Cathryn > Huh!! Guest guest
Exactly. As far as I'm concerned, my TSH will be suppressed for the rest of my life. It has been suppressed since October of last year, so far I have managed to get my FT3 up into the top half of range, now to get the FT4 there. Any ideas on the ferretin? Just a good multi-vitamin with iron? Cathryn > I would not reduce meds based on a slightly over range Total T3, and definitely not due to the TSH. >
