Meds for stomach problems

Can anyone tell me if taking Prilosec, or some other OTC med in the

evening

is ok? I need help with my always sensitive and acidic stomach. It

feeds into

my anxiety and vice versa and I really need to try to stop it. My

husband

started taking Prilosec last year and says he feels like a new man.

The

Levoxyl instructions only mention not taking calcium and Carafate

around the

time you take the Levoxyl. I don't want to change from the Levoxyl

right now.

And I need to quit all the Tums and Pepto Bismol prn.

I did try the white 50 mcg pills to make the 75mcg and am doing much

better.

But I had just a touch of upset, nothing too bad. I just think I've

had a lot of

anxiety lately and my stomach is raw again.

Any ideas/experiences appreciated........sara

Hi Sara,

I don't see why Prilosec or something similar would interfere with your thyroid meds. I take Omeprazole which is the same thing, about an hour after I take my Armour in the morning. I don't know that it interferes with Armour. It can interfere with other drugs, so you should check the label. Also, it can affect digoxin levels in the blood and says to notify your doctor if you are on iron. There are a whole slew of possible side effects so personally, I don't like being on it. But it helps with stomach/esophagus acid pain. It can heal damage in 3-6 months.
