Guest guest
Dear Lynn-- I've been trying to get ahold of my godmother for the last week so that I could put you in touch with one another; I think she's been out of town and they don't have an answering machine. My mother will be in touch with her today because they have plans-- and I should be able to get you in contact with her that way. Sorry about the delay-- but I have tried to call her four times in the last week. Best wishes-- Courtenay. Dear Lynn-- I don't know much about the activity that surrounded having her parathyroid removed, but I can put you in touch with her by email. She was very sickly prior to her surgery. I will get her email tonight. She's also a nurse. Best wishes-- C. , You said that your godmother had her parathyroid removed? I am interested in getting more information on the parathyroid. Do you know why her's was removed? What symptoms did she have? Still looking for information on the parathyroid. I was certain someone in the group would know something! The problem was, that when I first started complaining about symptoms ten years ago in my early 20s, no doctor would even run a glucose test/T4-T3 test because I looked so " healthy " . In all that time, my weight would swing wildly from 90 to 110, sometimes within several weeks. Like you, I gained the standard ten pounds but I gained it all in less than four weeks. And my new doctor got on his soapbox during his first visit about " how women want to be too thin, and my nieces, blah-blah-blah.... " And then I said, " But I've never weighed this much! My clothes don't fit! " I understand it could be worse; my godmother is morbidly obese and they just removed her parithyroid (perithyroid?). But, size is relative. I don't move as easily with this extra weight. Best wishes-- C. Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ADVERTISEMENT
Guest guest
Thanks Courtenay.... I am still trying to get information. I was told by the endo the reason my parathyroids are high is because they are stressing to make calcium. He doesn't know why???but is checking other things. I have to give a 24 hour urine test. This should be real fun! I have been diagnosed with osteopenia, and he is trying to get to the bottom of this. He may hint towards me being over dosed on thyroid, but I am NOT hyper. We'll see? Thanks again. Guest guest
Here's the one thing I know with my godmother-- she had calcium problems. She has had at least one major broken bone in the last few years. Gosh, a 24 hour urine test. I do not envy you. I hope that this clears up questions with your parathyroid though. Guest guest
Dear Lynn-- I saw my godmother last night. She gave her okay to pass on her email. Her name is Kathy Paty. She can be reached at katandrc@.... She mentioned that she checks her email infrequently, so it may take her a few days to get back to you.
