I wanted those Vibrams to work so badly. They're not just cool looking. I love the whole theory behind it. When I went from using regular running shoes (which wrecked my feet) to barefoot and minimal shoes, it was like becoming a complete beginner again. I had to adapt to a very different kind of gait.If Chucks ever came in a wicking, synthetic fabric, I'd be thrilled. :)

I've seen these in Runners World magazine. Whatever works! I can see how Vibrams might not be for everyone. I like them because they keep your toes apart, kind of like yoga toes do. My feet feel better afterward as a result but it's definitely something you work up to. The first time you do yoga toes for example they say 10-15 minutes only..

Chuck s will always be stylin', and they are what Pavel recommends after being barefoot!Hugs to you, Comrade!

Hi all,Thought I'd tell you about these in case you're looking for vibram 5 fingers, but don't like the toes. I wanted the 5 Fingers, the the fit is really specific, and it didn't match up with my foot. I got really excited when I saw these:

http://www.merrell.com/US/en/BarefootSame idea as the 5 Fingers, but without the toes. I headed out to S.F. to try them on. It turns out I have a similar problem with these. The support at the ball of the foot is too far forward, and so it makes my foot roll strangely. My foot just wants to bend in a different spot.

Every thing else about the shoe is WONDERFUL! I tried the mary jane version, and they're super cute, but the structure of the sole is just wrong for me.However, for folks with more average foot proportions, this would be a great solution if you like the Vibram 5 Fingers, but can't tolerate the fit around the toes.

Next I want to try the New Balance barefoot runners. In the meantime, I do my walk-runs in my Converse Chucks and my Tevas (my hippie shoes ).
