This is SUCH a lie. Why do they persist in saying this? NOTHING is

" unlimited " on the Atkins plan. Not protein, not fat, not calories.

Sigh.

What is a bummer about this info? I get all of the above symptoms (except

diarrhea and rashes) on a low-carb diet. Other people do great. I still eat

a lower carb diet than a SAD eater but can't do an Atkins plan without

feeling seriously funky. Have tried at least four times for at least two

weeks at a time.

the bummer isn't that they were reporting side effects - i don't do well

with less than 50g carbs, myself. but the real problem i had with the

article is that it was " don't do atkins cause you'll get side effects " ,

when the issue is actually a lot more nuanced, specifically about what

low-carb stuff people ARE eating. i wish that instead of the fear campaign

about low carbing, they would ...

wait. what am i ranting about? do i expect them to like, what, be positive?

educate people? this is silly.

anyway, i just think it's lame that they're trying to fight low-carb with

fear.

Elaine, there is a HUGE difference between someone trying something, or

making a reasoned and dispassionate evaluation of something, and deciding

it's not for them, and the kind of ill-informed propaganda - there is no

other word for it - that goes on with regards to not just Atkins but all

kinds of nutritional information.

My personal feeling is there is nothing wrong with pointing out potential

pitfalls of Atkins, as long as it's factual information presented in a

balanced way. This article makes a meager but fairly typical attempt at

being balanced, but falls woefully short of being " factual. "
