Guest guest
" The jury is still out on Exstrum. The one person I know who sees him is a cancer/nodule patient who needs to keep their TSH suppressed. I would like to see what he does with an ordinary hypo. . . . ????? " Actually, I AM an ordinary hypo. Hashi's. Dr. Extrum was treating me to find out if there was the slim chance that I not only had hashimotos, but ALSO cancer. His concerns rose from the fact that I had lots of nodules and some that were of concerning size, and that my thyroid was enlarged. His thoughts were that my previous doctor had had me on too low a dosage and that I was undertreated, not actually cancerous. So his regimine was to increase my dose and see, if over time, that decreased the number and size of nodules. If they did respond to higher doses, then that was the conclusion, I simply needed a higher dose than what I had been getting, and would not need a FNA and biopsy. If they did not decrease, then we would go with the FNA. He also put me on Armour as opposed to synthroid. I had my second sonogram last week. My nodules had all either decreased in size, or dissapeared. So I'm just garden variety Hashi's. I cant tell you how happy that makes me! He said he would continue me on this dosage and check me in 6 months again. If I had any further questions/problems during that time to feel free to call in. I've never felt better, I have engergy and I'm losing weight. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'd reccomend Dr. Exstrum to anyone. He never patronized me, always listened and offered sound treatment. He takes his time and explains things clearly. I know a lot of folks have a hard time getting their Doc to get them on Armour, Dr. Exstrum suggested it when he noticed that I was not responding to synthroid. I didn't have to beg or cajole. With the horrid problems I had with my previous doctor, Dr. Extrum is a walk in a beautiful, fragrant park. Its amazing to not have to fight and argue with a doctor every time you go in. nessa, on her way to " normal " _________________________________________________________________ Persistent heartburn? Guest guest
Chances are if my Internist had sent me to Exstrum instead of the Endo she did send me to, I would still have a thyroid. I had the same thyroid problems, mine ended up 3 times the normal size, there was just no room left for minor things like breathing and swallowing. I was undermedicated on synthroid, and the nodules kept growing instead of shrinking, ended up all being benign. Cathryn > > > > " The jury is still out on Exstrum.
