Ditto on medical field being most stubborn. It's because of the "basic training". It's like having something drilled into you, and then "the doctors just couldn't be wrong" because of the type of medical degrees they own. What's not realized is that these are just people too, and are not infallible, like all of us.

RE: Re: Rheumatologist

I’m trying to tell her this, but I am falling on deaf ears. She’s an RN – seems like people in the medical field are the most stubborn to listen!

I did buy her Shomon’s brand new Living Well With Fibro and CFS book – she’s devouring it. I bet she’ll get that info in there and she’ll be ready to listen! Then, already found her a dr. in ville, so she’ll be set!

Actually, hypo dogs are quite common, and are treated with

soloxine... I have a doberman, and it is very common in this breed.

She is not hypo, but I watch her like a hawk!! What you will find is

vets test for the same... T4!! LOL

Now this I am going to research, as my baby is only going to be 6

months old. If there is even the slightest possibility that she will

end up hypo like me, you can bet I am going to find a vet to not only

test the FT's, both 3 and 4, but use this type of med. *note to

self: start interviewing vets now*

If I find anything good, I will share if anyone wishes.

Cathryn =)

> Translation of " forward thinking vet " = Armour prescribing vet? You

will probably have better luck with vets than with human docs,

especially if your DH takes the dog in and mentions that he is on

Armour himself and how well it works.

Western Research Labs makes a veterinary version of Westhroid. They

might have some prescribing information.

You should probably look to the naturopathic or Allopathic

veterinarians. They are becoming more popular so more available but

usually pricey! But there is where you may find your best likelihood of

getting Armour or it's equivalent for dogs. I wish I could finds a vet

near me that would put my cat on it. I don't know the equivalent of his

meds to Armour so I can't just switch him myself or I would!
