Guest guest
She drinks a minimum of 2 Pepsis a day and I am wondering if the KT and the Pepsis are a bad combination. Can anyone spread some light on the situation? ------------------------------------- Do the Pepsis have sugar in them? That would add some calories to her body, but as for the legs, she should probably join you in your runs/walks. As for the Scobys, cut them into any form you want. They will grow to fill the jar they are in, no matter the size or shape. You don't have to worry about getting it accurate, the Scoby will do the work. And it is eager to grow..once, in a fit of boredom, I put some of the jagged pieces of Scoby in a blender with a touch of Ktea, and made a mix like applesauce. Then I put a spoonful of this into several pint jars of sweet tea (no other Kombucha in it) and covered it. In each of these jars I soon had a new baby Scoby. This critter GROWS well and will under almost any conditions that it can possibly grow in. Don't worry. Don't obsess. Enjoy your new friends. Pat in CA Strong suggestion...be darn careful how you talk to your wife about her legs, I would go berserk if MY husband, also an Ivan, would tell me they were getting fat. Even after a stroke, he is too smart to do that.

Guest guest
Greetings I am a new KT brewer/drinker and the top of the fridge fermenting comment got my attention. I used the top of the fridge for my first two batches and also for the two I am fermenting right now. I have gotten babies with both previous batches and are using them for the two I am presently fermenting. IS fermenting on top of the fridge really a big nono or is it ok? I also have a question regarding the two mama's I used previously. They are now too large to put in the fermenting pot so what size can I cut them down too without hurting them that would still allow me to successfully start new batches of tea and is it ok if they are kind of squarish in shape in the beginning since drawing circles without a compass is close to impossible for me. I have enjoyed the tea. I am in reasonably good health and except for high cholesterol but at my last exam my cholesterol had dropped to 138 and my bp was 100/80 but I do run / exercise daily. So far I have not personally noticed any bad effects from the tea. My wife is also taking the tea - about 4 ounces in the morning right now. I have noticed that her legs are getting larger and she is getting larger around the waist. She drinks a minimum of 2 pepsis a day and I am wondering if the KT and the pepsis are a bad combination. Can anyone spread some light on the situation? Ivan

No, Ivan, it's not a big no-no. In your case it seems to work. The only problem can be the vibrations. If they are too strong they (as is not the case with you, fortunately) they can hinder the formation of the scoby on top. That's the only caveat. But you seem to have a well- behaved fridge! > question regarding the two mama's I used previously. They don't have to be symmetrical at all.... can be ANY shape! You can just trim down the old culture ... do a quick slim ;-) either with a sharp knife or scissors well wiped with distilled vinegar. I often send cultures out to friends in little PETE plastic bottles. In order to get a culture in the bottle if it has gone too fat I cut circularly round the round culture continuing to follow the curve until I have one long strip. Then it's ever so easy to post it into the bottle and to put acidic KT on top. So you can cut or tear your culture into any convenient shape, it won't mind. The bacteria of the culture will build another PERFECT scoby that fits into the shape of your vessel completely. Your culture truly won't be miffed... it's a strong, not squeamish beast ;-) > I have enjoyed the tea. I am in reasonably > good health and except for high cholesterol ... Kombucha has a fantastic effect on diminishing cholesterol. :-) I have just started to brew some Kombucha with Hibiscus flowers (very red and vibrant and fruity!) and green tea. Hibiscus is also wonderful against cholesterol and high blood pressure. http://www.nilevalleyherbs.com/health.html > My wife is also taking the tea - about 4 ounces in the > morning right now. She needs to replace the pepsis with beautiful plain water. One strange side-effect of dehydration can be that the body grabs all the liquid it can and stores it in the legs and other parts of the body. SO, for her, the way forward would be to drink much more water and drop the pepsi! Pepsi (like Kombucha) is diuretic. That's why it is doubly important to increase the water consumption. Hope that puts some useful ideas in your head ;-) Greetings from merry old England, Margret:-) -- +---------------------------------------------------------------+ Minstrel@... <)))<>< http://www.therpc.f9.co.uk <)))<>< http://www.AnswersInGenesis.com http://www.lamblion.com/ +---------------------------------------------------------------+ Beautiful young people are acts of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art.
