Guest guest
Becky, I used inositol powder for from 6-8th grades. He's on Celexa now though. It worked well for him. He's in 10th grade now. Did you just start it? Give it a good 12 weeks or so to build up so you can tell how it's going to do (or can you already tell?). Like prescription meds, it might or might not help, you just never know! I really was glad it worked well for him though; plan to try going back on it whenever I decide to wean him off Celexa, but that'll be a while yet. I never got him up to 18 grams, we got by OK on around 11 to 13 or so; I gave him extra if he asked for some though. > Debbi, > > I have been reading a lot about inositol. I am trying it on myself and am also going to give it to my 9 year old son. I bought it in a powder form at GNC - $40. I am mixing it with juice or water and then drink it. They say it is a vitamin b8. Anyone here familiar with it?? >
Guest guest
Hi Debbi, lots of (((hugs))) coming your way! As someone else suggested, and I replied, we used inositol powder for my son for a few years. You might want to give it a try. We bought it online, found a better price that way. Plus it was just plain hard to find in stores but you might can have a local vitamin store order it for you. Apparently drug dealers use it to mix in with crack or something we were told back in the days when I was searching around for it; don't know if that's why it's not stocked much or something. It has a sweet taste, is considered to be in the B vitamin family. The pills won't work as well as the powder, so get the powder if you try it. As to prescription medication - it's a personal choice. I tried the alternative first too. I had always wondered would my son get " more " benefit from a prescription medication though, so when I felt inositol was pooping out a bit (tho I could have upped the dosage), he agreed to try a prescribed med. So we've used Celexa since. Well, got to take to fencing class, perhaps I can add more later! (((hugs))) you and your family WILL get through this! I thought I'd collapse from exhaustion and end up hospitalized myself (single mom, 3 sons, one with OCD, others needing/wanting....insaneness was coming on!) > Hi Everyone, > > Sorry to keep asking so many questions regarding my 9 yr old son, but I feel > like I'm about ready to go crazy myself.
