Thanks for all the SID info. I alternate back and forth as to which child to

worry about more, the younger has mainly clothing isuues the older one does

things so out of touch with reality it is scary. My 8 yr old had just started

increasing her " I won't get sick if... " questions again so I asked if there were

kids in her room out sick. She said there were 2. Here we go again....I, like

many of you, cannot ever mention the world " throw-up " without her running away

screaming.

SID is sensory integration dysfunction. She is mainly tactile defensive (touch),

hates clothing, has never worn underwear, never worn socks, no sneakers unless

they have an open back, nothing with elastic, zippers, snaps, nothing too tight

or too loose, no tags, sleeps naked, has NEVER worn a band-aid, can't stand car

seats and seatbelts, etc., etc. She is very attached to " blankie " and keeps it

up near her lip which is the most sensitive part of your body. She eats things

based on texture (no mushy foods, mashed potatoes, yogurt, pudding), covers her

ears in movie theaters, when I run the vacuum or use the blender or beaters. And

she has the keenest sense of smell. Her kindergarten teacher has been great and

lets her keep blankie around her neck at school. I bought another blankie and

made a pair of underwear out if it so we get by for now until the dreaded winter

comes and we have to cover up more...I never thought of this along the OCD

spectrum until I started reading the

other e-mails

RE: clothing

My 8 yr daughter was diagnosed with OCD a few months ago and was put on Celexa,

she is doing pretty well. She had been having issues for some time

(contamination, hoarding, throw up fears, etc.) and when she stopped eating

altogether I knew I had an emergency. She is doing better but has those up and

down days. I signed up in this group right after the Dx but forgot to check my

mail, 720 messages later....I am so comforted to know how many people are

dealing with the same issues daily. My compounding problem is my 5 yr. old that

was diagnosed with sensory integration dysfunction but my insurance won't pay

for OT. I never knew of the strong link between OCD and SID.
