Guest guest
Take a look at the different macro books that we have within our online store. http://www.simply-natural.biz/books-macrobiotic-books.php I think that everyone would benefit from owning both the downloadable books we have there by Marque and the cooklets by Waxman. Guest guest
Hi Lala, " Must-have " books is a fairly broad catergory. Are you looking for MB cookbooks, MB inspirational books, or MB " theory " books? I'll list a few of the many books that have benefited me. For anyone wanting to save a few dollars, libraries will obtain books from any U.S. library, which is especially helpful when a book is out-of-print. My local library has even purchased new books that I have requested. I smile everytime I catch sight of 's cookbooks on their shelves. mentioned 's & Illait's cookbooks. Besides those, I also like " Basic Macrobiotic Cooking " by Ferre, " A Man in the Kitchen " by Warren Wepman, and & Gale Jack's " Amber Waves of Grain " . Besides the recipes, Aveline Kushi's " Complete Guide to Macrobiotic Cooking " provides insight into her life. I love reading it. I also enjoyed reading " Promemade Home " by Gale Jack, Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy by Dirk Benedict (Battlestar Galactica), " Recovery from Cancer " by Elaine Nussbaum, " A Personal Peace " by Briscoe, and many of Tom Monte's books. Porter's book " The Hip Chick's Guide to Macrobiotics " includes interesting tibits, & theory, as well as recipes. Michio's " The Macrobiotic Guide to Total Health " describes many diseases from a macro point of view. There are several pages of home remedies, as well as recipes for standard macro dishes. Denny Waxman's " The Great Life Handbook " is a very helpful & concise guide for living according to macro principles. He includes a few standard recipes. If someone has chemical sensitivities, Dr.Sherry 's " The Cure is In the Kitchen " delves right into macro cooking. One warning about her book - there is no index & it's a bit disorganized. Although, I've probably left out a favorite book (and of course, I haven't even mentioned the classics by Ohsawa), maybe this list will provide a starting place for you. Have fun. Dottie (Illinois, USA) [sPAM] Must-have books Can anyone recommend any Must-have cookbooks for MB? Thanks in advance! Lala

Guest guest
Thanks, . Of course, for people who have children, their list would include your baby books. I'm also eagerly awaiting the arrival of Simon's book, " Modern Day Macrobiotics " . I'm sure that it will become a favorite. I'm glad that mentioned Ilanit's cookbook, as it reminded me of her " Enchanted Broccoli Forest With Pumpkin Creme " recipe. I fixed it yesterday, following her suggestion to use millet instead of the polenta. It was yummy. With a refrigerator full of fresh veggies, great cookbooks, and a bit of imagination to inspire us, we should never become bored with our meals :-) Dottie Illinois USA [sPAM] Must-have books > > >Can anyone recommend any Must-have cookbooks for MB? >Thanks in advance! Guest guest
Hi Dottie, Lala, , and friends! I wonder why Cybermacro/Simply Natural's number one seller of all time The Self-Healing Cookbook: A Macrobiotic Primer for Healing Body, Mind and Moods With Whole Natural Foods by a has been overlooked? And please don't jump on me for making this correction, but the title for the book by Michio Kushi and Jack is The Macrobiotic Path to Total Health:A Complete Guide to Preventing and Relieving More Than 200 Chronic Conditions and Disorders Naturally ! Denny Waxman's soon to be released revision of The Great Life Handbook:A practical Guide to Health, Happiness, and Freedom is The Great Life Diet: A Practical Guide to Heath, Happiness, and Personal Fulfillment ! Yes, there are many good macrobiotic books and probably each of them touches everyone in a different way. One way of deciding which books are the best for you is to look at them all and decide which ones you want to have the most. You know where to find all those books, don't you? Thank you, very much. Guest guest
Hi Bruce, Thanks for mentioning a's book, which is another great book that many people recommend. I usually loan it to friends asking about macrobiotics. Do you recommend Naboru Muramoto's book " Healing Ourselves " ? It's on my " wish list " , but I've never gotten around to buying it, as I'm hoping to run across it in a used-book store. Have a great week. Guest guest
Good question Bruce about do people know where to find the books. Obvious place to start of course is 's site, and I'm assuming one can get their books directly from authors. My best find was when I found a bookstore that was ONLY cookbooks (I think it was in Pasadena) and I bought up all the mb books I found there. I'm sure there are other book sites on the computer, but my expertise doesn't go there. My greatest disappointment was to go to Borders and find hardly any mb books. But the other even more important question is how many people revisit their books - I have loads of them and all this discussion made me realize it's time for re-reading, and even more, re-using. I get myself into a trap of just looking at what's in the fridge and putting it together without the stimulation of the many creative ideas from others. It's easier to do things from habit then go to search for something new. Thanks for the push from everyone. Guest guest
Dottie, I have an extra copy of Naboru Muramoto's book "Healing Ourselves". I would be happy to give it to you if you are willing to send me your mailing address. Was going to take it to Half Price Books but they don't give you much and would prefer someone have it that would use and enjoy it. Namaste, Vickie [sPAM] Must-have books>>>Can anyone recommend any Must-have cookbooks for MB?>Thanks in advance!
