Guest guest Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Greg, I actually had some pizza this afternoon. The Quick Way (a convenience store across the street) has a deli in the back that always has fried chicken and other things. They also have a machine to cook pizza and sometimes they have somein boxes ready to go. This afternnoon they had one slice of pepperonie left, so I go that, a chicken breast and some rice. The chicken is some of the best I've had anywhere, but I don't eat the skin: I always peel that off and just eat the meat, and a little bit of the crispy stuff, but not the fatty skin. Aside from that, I usually just like plain cheese and pepperonie. Sometimes I'll have more but never onions or a couple of other things. The best pizza I have ever had was at a micro-brewery in Mobile, Alabama. They have a brick kiln with an oak fire in it. Last time I was down there I got their pizza with everything (the option on the menu though I could have made my own). It was incredibly good and I'll have to say I ate too much and still took a few pieces back to the hotel. Quote

I can't deal with the powdered garlic, and even the jarred stuff tastes like crap. We have Tacconelli's in the area (Phila.), which is considered among the best in the US. (At the downtown one, it's necessary to make reservations, which are done by reserving a crust.) Their various red pies are excellent, but forget about the white pizza - canned garlic. So it's still possible to get a better pizza than " the best " . There are a few other noteworthy places in the area. I've made the trip to Trenton to get a NY greasy style pizza. There are few few chain places here. Dominos seemed to survive (not sure why -- I never went there to find out), and of course Sbarro, but nobody is going to go to most chains when there is a pizza joint at every commercial corner. Most don't offer pizza with fruit on it, however. Quote

Guest guest Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 I hate all kinds of pizza and won't eat any of it. I won't eat any Italian food except my mom's spaghetti, and even then, I can tell when just by the aroma whether or not she's used too much sugar or salt, or a different kind of tomato paste, or the wrong noodles. My taste buds are ultra sensitive. Tom > I can't deal with the powdered garlic, and even the jarred stuff tastes like crap. Quote

Guest guest Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Hello , Yeah that sounds kooky about having it the fast way by just picking some up at the convenience store. I just had some awhile ago and it was pretty good, it was some leftover deep dish pizza with pepperoni on it . I've always been a pizza fan and always go for whatever i can get in this house. So other than that not much is new around here. I must admit though it sounds like everyone likes a variety of different things on their pizzas, lol. It should come as no surprise since everyone has different tastes. Well it's officially my birthday so all i can say is " Happy Birthday to me " i wish my day was going to be a little more celebrant instead of going around with my sponsor all day and working . I don't really call spending time with my sponsor a fun thing to do on my birthday. Besides who wants to be going out and about running errands when you could be having fun with friends? That's just my thought on things, and anyways my friend Jeff is supposed to be coming over. Jeff usually comes over on Wednesdays or Thursdays and so i'm expecting to hear from him some time this morning and so i have alot to look forward to. I'm sure alot of people think of me as overly celebrant and stuff but i never really perceive myself to be as that. Because to me a year is a long time and waiting until next May is going to be even longer. Which is the reason why i'm soaking up the moment as much as i can while it is still alive do you know what i mean? Besides it only lasts for a brief moment and then it is gone for another year . The nice thing about birthdays is that you can get gifts and i enjoy celebrating mine mexican style and so i always have mexican food for dinner. And so i'm never out of style with the times. So i always like to do something on the occasion. So anyways my aspie friend is calling out to me on the instant messenger so i better let you go. I hope everything is going ok for the rest of you. I hope to hear from you soon, good luck in all you do. Signed, Greg > Greg, > > I actually had some pizza this afternoon. Guest guest Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Veggie pizza for me. :-) Ingor > Hello Everyone, I'm thinking about what's in the fridge and i'm thinking to myself " I'm in the mood for pizza tonight " . I usually like to have pepperoni, italian sausage and bacon on one of them and then i like pepperoni, mushrooms and ham on the other one. Along with an order of crazy bread (garlic bread) with marinara sauce. I could go for some of that right about now i generally skip breakfast and go right to lunch because i've never been much one for breakfast. So anyways who wants pizza? What do you like on your pizza? I hope to hear from you soon, good luck in all you do. Signed, Greg FAM Secret Society is a community based on respect, friendship, support and acceptance. Guest guest Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Stan: Regarding pizza, so long as it's not pre-manufactured (e.g, chains), a no-meat pizza is likely to have trans fats limited to that naturally occurring in the cheese. Perhaps the pre- manufactured stuff has hydrogenated shortening (margarine) and processed cheese, but an ordinary (no-meat) pizza is fairly healthy in that regard. Thanks alot. I thought the pre-manufactured organic veggie pizza I was eating was healthy. *sob* Well, it works for me anyway. It's easy to heat, tastes the same every time, and is so filling and gastronomically satisfying that I don't need to eat anything else. I have not gained any weight since I started eating these about a year ago. But then I never drink anything but water with it. I tried making my own pizzas but I got a headache from the smell of oregano and they still tasted like crap. :-( Inger Quote
Guest guest Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Pizza is my top-level FAVORITE food! I'll even go for the frozen pizzas. The cheapest frozen pizzas are a bit weak, but I'll take those too! I love pepperoni the most but I stick more to the veggie pizzas in an effort to delude myself that it is "healthy." and the zoo. When I lived at home (er, American for " with parents " ), I used to order pizzas which were half cooked from a pizza shop and throw them in the freezer. There was one place I'd go that was maybe 20 miles away that had something like 24 inch pies (60cm). Whatever size they were, it was a tight squeeze for the standalone freezer my parents had. Quote
