Guest guest
Not from Prozac. But as you said, who knows where hives come from? When my daughter had them I just made it a habit, from then on, to carry some Benedryl (can't spell!) with me always because you never know when they'll move to the throat etc., and cause a breathing problem. She hasn't had them since, and that was 11 years ago, but the Benedryl is still in my purse. Dana in NC

Guest guest
Hi - Just to chime in: my 6-year-old son Zachary is on 40 mg of prozac and does have hives, so I can sympathize. But he has also had eczema since he was 6 months old, along with various allergies (including a severe peanut allergy) so I do not associate the hives with the prozac. In his/our family's case, living with hives is definitely easier than living with the intense anxiety of OCD he suffers at lower medication levels. One possibility for you would be to have your son see an allergist or pediatric dermatologist and obtain the most effective creams to treat his skin - we have had tremendous success with Eladil, which is a non-steroid prescription cream and thus very safe. Antihistamines also help, and then we keep an Epipen on us at all times in case something happens with peanuts. Sounds like you have a lesser problem, although I wouldn't spend a lot of money on over-the-counter anti-itch creams (these have been a waste of time and money for us). I suspect the hives will be quite manageable for your child once you find an effective remedy. Marie in central NJ > > My son is five and a half. His name is Adam.
