My husband came up with the phrase "uniquely personal medical care". Doesn't exactly tell all, but I was just looking for something to fit on my business card.

I'm about to update my website and do a bit of marketting too, so this has

been on my mind. When I discuss the office with patients, I like to say

things like...

(1) " Ideal micropractice " tries to be " ideal " for patient and doctor

alike while staying " small " to break from the economic pressures to

over-book the schedule and rush appointments.

(I think I've paraphrased this from somewhere but I'm not sure where...

perhaps a Gordon talk ??)

...and, one of my favorite lines ...

(2) " The ideal micropractice model helps me focus on quality of care

while adding value to every interaction "

.... then I make the point that an interaction is more than just an appt

but also includes any communication method patient and I may use, thus the

patient should feel that using email, RelayHealth, AppointmentQuest, voice

mail, cell phone, etc, all are of high value to them and their care.

So, how about that one...

Ideal micropractice = High quality medical care + high value interaction.

There's gotta be a pithier way to say that (assuming it is worth saying).

.... Finally, in my initial ads I devised this slogan...

(3) " No Barriers, No Delay, No Waiting "

I don't think I need to explain these six words to this group with our

IMP's and open scheduling! ;-)

Can't wait to learn other folks' ideas on slogans for ideal micropractice

model.

What

about something simple like what is on the IMP logo, “Different Doctors.

Better Care.” Or something like “the

perfect place for patients and physicians.” I think if we try to explain

too much in the marketing, we start getting bogged down with the trees and lose

the focus on the forest. Note: I too need to update my website, so this is a

very timely topic.

Charlie: if you are living up to the IMP principles, you can link

yourself to the IMP initiative, and use the phrase Better Doctors, Better

Care. I worked with some marketing experts on that stuff and it

opens a very cool conversation with folks who are fed up with typical

care. " What makes you different? What makes the care

better? " We then have the opportunity to delve into the

differences.

Those differences are the core principles to which we adhere:

I'm here for you when you need me (open access scheduling and 24/7

continuity)

I won't waste your time (office efficiency)

I will give you very good information to help you make good choices and

decisions

I will work with you to help you reach your health care goals (self

confidence)

These principles are where I currently stand on what we do. This is

based on literature we've just published:

http://www.howsyourhealth.org/JACM_July-Sept_2006.pdf

where we show the impact of these on outcomes.

What feels uncomfortable about " Better Doctors, Better Care " is the

implication that docs not in IMP are not as good as me. And, though I do

strive to be excellent, I'm also very comfortable saying lots of other

docs are awesome too. It's the MODEL of practice that I'm hoping allows

the quality to show through.

But as I thought about that slogan and my thought of " IMP = better quality

of care + better value of each interaction " I did think of a simplier

statement I may use...

" IMP -- Better Quality, Better Value " which I think still touches upon the

same concepts for the model without hinting that other docs are lousy.

.... timing for this discussion was great as I'm about to toy with my

website and make some brochures. I needed to walk thru some preferred

wording... thanks Charlie.

I uploaded a couple of files of my Ad in the files section (Display

ad...; Direct mail card). My Relayhealth site

(relayhealth.com/doc/sripada) has the practice philosophy in the

first page. I want to thank everyone who have their websites posted--

I borrowed ideas freely!!!

I am having to advertise fairly heavily so that my patients from the

old practice can find me. The old group abruptly released me 2

months after I resigned instead of having me stay to the end of my 3

month notice as they had originally insisted (I resigned in mid

May). My attorney intervened and they are paying me through mid

August, but are not informing my patients.

Anyway the Ad is working. The best results I got were from direct

mail cards and the local free papers in the immediate surrounding

areas. The direct mail card had more info on this practice model.

I have Appointmentquest and Relayhealth. The Relayhealth is a HUGE

hit, so in my next ads I am highlighting it.

Also very useful is meeting the ER docs at the nearest hospital, and

the local Pediatricians/Gynecologists. I will also be picking up

some shifts with the Hospitalist group at a nearby hospital--I think

will be useful.

I decided to use

the name Renaissance Family Medicine for my new practice & I'm trying

to come up with a phrase. Ideas:

recreating personal health care

or

the rebirth of personal health care

Any thoughts or other ideas?

For what it's worth, I always say that word-of-mouth is ultimately our

best advertising in healthcare. But I do enjoy the " game " of slogans!

I like the name you've chosen. A slogan that goes along with the name is

nice, and using your basic concept I might offer " Your Health -- Reborn " .

Of course the word " renaissance " does mean " re-born " but " the

Renaissance " , due to it being part of history, has a certain classical

implication, and so do many aspects of the IMP model. Thus, perhaps a

slogan like " classic health care " or integrate both ideas with " the

rebirth of classic healthcare " .

Good luck and have fun with the slogans.

Sharon,

Nice practice name… You’re on

the right track for the phrase; I prefer the ‘rebirth’ one, as I

think the type of relationship we foster with our patients is reminiscent of

the old time country docs of yore (my grandfather was one of them), who really

new their patients and their circumstances, family, etc.

Dear ,

Thanks for the heads up. I did a google search & you are correct. Do you mean

registered as a trademark?

I got a ficticious name permit from my county and from the California Medical

Board. Is there someplace else I have to register (with more fees to pay, I'm

sure).

Sharon,Yes, I did mean that. Although, I couldn´t remember the correct terminology. I know there is a national registration and is associated with a fee. Sharon,I'm pretty sure that you can use the name you chose as long as nobody else in the same STATE already is using that name. For example, there is also a Renaissance Family Medicine in New Albany, Indiana. Those were the only two places I filed a fictitious name permit with. If you plan on having a website, you may want to register a domain name to reserve a web address. It's cheap to do and you can redirect traffic to another site if you like. For myself, patients looking for "www.drgaryseto.com" end up on the RelayHealth website where I keep my practice home page. SetoSouth Pasadena, CA Dear , Thanks for the heads up.
