Guest guest
Hi everyone, I wonder if you are all experiencing more anxiety since school has started too. My dd's OCD was pretty manageable through the summer. Now that the stress of school has started, I see it creeping back a bit. Especially in the morning when she doesn't feel like getting up and going to school. The whole " getting ready " thing sucks!!!! This morning I sent her out the door to the bus without her brushing her hair or teeth. This was after she proctastinated so much and spent so much time trying to get me to engage with the bully. But I didn't (I don't think...) So she left in a huff and I felt bad. We talked it over and agreed upon 1 question each morning. I hope it works because I am not up for another year of hellish mornings. Last year she was late 52 times! Does this ever reach a point where the kids are managing it themselves? My dd has ADD also and is unmedicated for that right now. Since school has begun she has been so HYPER. She notices and doesn't like it, but she can't quite calm herself down. And she has trouble falling asleep at night, which makes the ADD worse, which makes the anxiety worse, etc..... But, on the positive side, she wasn't nervous before school started this year. Always a new challenge in life. I must get used to it. I went out with a bunch of friends today, none of whom know my whole situation here. It is sometimes a very sad feeling to think about it all. But I rarely let myself think about that too much because it isn't helpful and because people with OCD are actually very nice, caring, sensitive, creative people and I pray that one day those very qualities will make our children shine so bright!!!!! Thanks for letting me vent tonight. Ellen
Guest guest
Yes, 's anxiety level is way worse with school. Maybe because it's his first time at public school it is worse, but it is bad. Having a first period screamer doesn't help. I will be calling the psych doctor for advice since we don't go again till the 24th. Kim in IA >
