Guest guest Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 I was reading Darlene's post and was reminded of my pressure cooker.... I love the pressure cooker especially for beans, as I can make a batch of beans and freeze half of them. I hardly ever have to buy canned beans because I can always dig some out of the freezer when I need them. (adzuki don't defrost that well, unless you don't mind them a little mashed, lol) Which brings me to the question: is pressure cooking your food harmful in the long run? Is it merely the " unnaturalness " of the extreme temperatures? I joined another mb list for a MINUTE, but thought the guy was plain crazy! His name is Harry or something like that...Ilanit, did I see you are a member of that group? He says some really strong things about pressure cooking. funny thing is, he may be a NUT but I found some of what he said really intriguing. I dissolved my membership because I really couldn't stand " feeling " him, iykwim! the key things I found intriguing were the comments on pressure cooking, and what he said about feeling hungry. though now it's been so long I don't remember what exactly he said about feeling hungry, lol! (did I just hear my stomach grumble?) I'm also really curious about the different thoughts on grains and acidity in the body. It seems there is an older school of mb, and a newer one? Michio Kushi's books seem to say to comprise very little of your diet from vegetables, but is this really suggested now? I'm not really following anyone's thoughts 100%, I seem to just follow my own compass. But I'm happy to say I've now lost almost 10 pounds in two months of chewing my food more thoroughly! ;-) any input much appreciated! may all beings be blessed, Holly Quote
