Gordon,

I can’t seem to open the attachment.

Is that just a “my computer ignorance” thing or is something up

with the file?

List of docs providing cutting edge care

USA Today is going to run a piece on the IMP project.

The writer would like to identify practices that are living up to the

principles so that readers have a chance to find such a doc.

If you feel that you are living up to (or in the throes of working

towards) the principles of Ideal Micro Practices, please make sure to

put yourself on the list.

I'm copying the most recent list that is on my web site.

Gordon, technically, I don't belong in the list...I am part of a small group, plus I'm not sure I individually meet some of the guidelines...although I suppose our group tries to meet them.

BTW, I was able to open up the file without difficulty, so it may be a problem on 's side and not the file.

Gordon: I have just received word that I will also be a part of the ACP's Center fro Practice Innovation Study. The WSJ had quotes from you and the lead for the ACP. Hopefully, this will gain momentum and lead to better care for many people. A point raised was that this model would create a shortage of primary care to implement similar practices and leave many people without a medical "home." At some point I think we should talk about the future of medicine in the next 5, 10 , 15, and 20 years. "L. I’m with on this one. Although

I think each of us have an idea of where we would like to see medicine go in

the future, I would like to hear a clear picture from those with more national

experience. The article this week in JAMA about US health trailing England even

after accounting for diet and socioeconomic issues (which probably did not surprise

many of us but will likely shock many politicians) will only add fuel to the

fire as people continue to search for what is missing in the US healthcare system

(perhaps a dr/patient relationship??) and search for alternatives to

traditional style medicine. Can we somehow get together to discuss this

important issue? Thanks!

Actually, I'm the one who compiled the list, and although I promised to have an updated list at the beginning of this year, I obviously haven't done so yet. Part of the problem is that there has been a LOT of new people posting on this listserve, of which there are easily over 100 posters, both regular and irregular. The other problem is that not everyone who posts here has an actual practice following the principles of the Ideal Micropractice model. Some work in a traditional office or salaried position, but are curious to find out more. Others are planning to start their own practices but haven't done so yet. So I will definitely include everyone who has asked to be on the list so far. It would be helpful to include as much contact info as you would like potential patients to have, such as telephone numbers, a public e-mail address (if you use that with patients) and website addresses. I will not automatically assume that the e-mail address you use to post on this listserve is the one that you want to give out to patients.Gordon, when do you need the list by? And please don't say, "Yesterday".
