Kathie how lucky to have children that are willing to help. I think

one of the most important things to know in this undertaking is that

every single day can and very well may be different. Some days my

Mom is so good and on top of things, the next so confused and

possessed with the " others " that she is unable to sit still, and or

carry on a conversation, forever moving (pacing the floor) and

getting after the " kids " --at 81 who wouldn't be frustrated at raising

another family and or friends. Mom was on Aricept for two years, but

got so all she was doing was hallucinating and sleeping---the two

things that she begged for help with. We finally took her off Aricept

and she is now awake, but when alone she is much more aware of the

hallucinations and so we have added full time care for her in her

home. I see little difference since going off the meds other than the

being awake. She is eating better now that others are there to have

meals wih her, and for the most part if we can maintain the help we

are doing well. I hope that your Dad can adjust to the different

location, my Mom does better in her regular setting, but still gets

disoriented in her own home, this is a big thing and he may need a lot

of direction. Good luck and it is a lot of comfort to have others

ideas and perspectives on things. Joanne in Oregon
