There are reasons I don't understand for removing your jewelry, but one of the biggest reasons I do understand is swelling. And it DOES happen! It happened to me. Dr. K made me take my wedding ring off. I would have gladly done it for the surgery but the problem was it was so tight I couldn't get it off. Because I didn't want it to be cut off (yes, he said he would cut if off if I didn't take it off), I forced that stupid thing off my finger after much pain and effort. (My skin was raw for a week.) And guess what? I had a reaction to the morphine and my left hand blew up like a basketball. Can you imagine if I had still had my ring on? I could have lost my finger permanently. The same thing can potentially happen anywhere on your body. Surgery, anesthesia, all of it can have very unusual effects on your body. Please believe that the doctors are concerned for your safety. And TALK to Dr. K if you haven't already. Of course, you'll be seeing him in a couple of days anyway. But, if it doesn't hurt to get your tongue repierced, or if you've spent time expanding the hole, can't you just do that again if it gets smaller after surgery? Yes, it will take time, but you're talking about having a surgery which can make your life better in countless ways. Isn't that worth the temporary inconvenience? Yes, I really do understand how frustrating it is. But, it will be only TEMPORARY. The surgery will change your life FOREVER. Hugs! Tracey > NO. Its just a solid barbell. AND, tomorrow (sunday) I leave for Delano!!!! IM SO EXCITED!!!! And nervous, but more excited!!! Well, thats not true. Im REALLY nervous too! ANYWAYS, We're leaving tomorrow and then it'll take around 5 hours to get there, and then we're staying at Super Eight Motel. And then in the morning, MY CONSULT!!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!! The only thing im worried about is that Dee said that if i get my phyc exam, AND have a nutrition consult i'd get my surgery date during my consult! I had a nutrition consult on Feb.10,2004, and i called my doctor yesterday to see if i can get a copy of it and they said sure. So i picked it up yesterday. So thats taken care of. But i had my phyc exam on Monday, and he said he'd have the clearance paper done by friday. So i called him yesterday (todays saturday) and he didnt answer. So i left a message. And i dont think he works on the weekends, so ill have to call him the morning of my appointment and just pray he faxed it to Dee. Oh, DUH! I didnt even think about just calling Dee and asking her if she got any phyc exam clearances for an Amy Young. Does anyone else have a consult on Monday too?!?! ~Amy > > NO. Its just a solid barbell.
