Red meat and colon cancer

The recent posts on the list about colon cancer have raised something

that I've been curious about for a while. The epidemiological studies

indicate that there is an association between red meat consumption and

cancer. Would folks be able to comment on their understanding of what

this means for people who eat the way that Supertrainers are likely to

eat? In other words, is there a difference in the " red meat " of the

" burgers crowd " and the " grass-fed bison with a nice spinach salad

crowd " ? Are all " red meats " created equal in this context? Does " red

meat " actually serve as an indicator of or proxy for an overall cruddy

diet high in processed carbs etc.?

As someone whose mother was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer at

50, I'm obviously mindful of this risk...
