This is a perfect example of instead of appealing decisions and fighting parents -- schools and parents should together be writing letter after letter after letter to our Federal and State Governments to fully fund IDEA so the schools have the funds to do what they need to do....) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Judge: School District Must Reimburse Family For Boy's Special Education $353,000 From the Associated Press http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/5094663/detail.html Denver - An administrative law judge says the School District must give the parents of a severely autistic Berthoud boy more than 353-thousand dollars to pay for his education at a Boston residential facility. Judge Norcross upheld a state hearing officer's ruling in July that the school district failed to provide an adequate education for eleven-year-old Luke Perkins. Jeff and Perkins say their son needs constant supervision to be able to learn basic life skills, including eating and sleeping property. Jeff Perkins says that when his son returned from Boston for the summer, his skills had improved significantly. officials say the ruling sets a frightening precedent for all school districts facing special-education costs.
