While I suppose that its possible that alcohol consumption at high

levels could contribute, I'm not sure that it does.

Alcohol is not a " sugar " by any definition.

Severe alcoholics may be getting a large percentage of their calories

from alcohol, which is metabolized sort of as a fat.

I think that people with lipodystrophy have lost fat cells in the

extremities, so fat deposits in the belly, or wherever it finds fat

cells to rest in. There are genetic differences in where we store fat

(go sit in a mall and watch fat people, it's interesting).

To minimize the appearance of lipo, a person would have to maintain

body weight below their pre-lipo weight.
