Surgeon Appt

Hello Everyone,

Just got home from my appt with my upper body surgeon, He took new

xrays of both of my shoulders, both are in bad shape, my left one by

xray is worse then my right one, but when I had the bone scan done,

it shows my right one is worse. That I all ready knew about. This is

what is going to happen for the next couple of weeks. He is going to

send my records and my xray down to a surgeon in Colorado to consult

with him and get a second opinion about my options. We had talked

about a few different kinds of shoulder replacement. We did the same

thing when I had my elbow replaced in 2000, Then he sent all my

records and xrays to Dr. Benard at the mayo clinic in MN, He is the

leading surgeon in elbow replacements dealing with JRA. My surgeons

have always been very good at making sure we talk about all the

options. And get second opinions from surgeons that are top in there

field for that joint replacement. Due to my age and the serverity of

my jra. I see Dr. again on the 14th to talk about what this

other surgeon thinks will work out the best for me.

Also I will be seeing a new surgeon, in the same office. lucky me

now, I have just about seen all the surgeons in this office, this

will be the 4th one out of 7 of them, the rate I am going I will

have seen them all within a few more years lol. Ok now why I am

seeing this surgeon, I have been having a lot of nerve problems

again. Both my hands, mainly my right one and my legs, and behind my

shoulders have been going numb a lot lately. When I saw the neuro

surgeon a little bit back, I brought this up to him, and he just

shrugged it off. There is a reason why this is happening, I get so

made when doctors just blow things off, It's like they don't want to

waste the time to find out what is going on, and just blame the JRA.

I have always like Dr. , He is one of a couple of my doctors

that take everything serious. So I see this other surgeon next

friday, to have Nerve conduction tests done. He said if he finds

something before I have the surgery done on my shoulders, then it

would be a good idea to fix the problem at the same time. If not,

then we deal with it as we find out what is going on.

I also see my rheumy tomorrow, This is mainly just a regular

checkup, I will be having the mscontin raised again, It is starting

now to work as well as it did. I have been at this dose for many

months now. The only other problem I have to bring up to my rhuemy

is when I stand for longer then 5 or 10 minutes, my calfs tighten up

so much it hurts so bad to stand. I have had problems with this

happening for sometime, I thought it was just a faze that would go

away, but it hasn't. I will also be having her fill out some paper

work for medicaid and hopefully be approved for them to buy me a

chair that lifts me up and help me stand up. I use my shoulders to

lift me out of a sitting postion and it hurts so bad. I haven't been

able to lift myself up from a sitting postion for many years now

with my legs, the main reason is due to my knee's don't even bend to

90 degree's anymore, so I can't get any leverage to lift my self up.

Hopefully they will approve it, and buy the chair for me. I will for

sure need something like that when I do have the surgery done on my

shoulders.

it is so good that your doctors get the best opinions. I wonder if your

nerve problems might stem from the damage in your neck. At least these doctors

will find out for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Melt
