Guest guest
We see an endocrinologist who also pays careful attention to my child's growth. We have seen him for the past 5 years (Ben is 8). Ben's height has always hovered around the 3rd percentile for typically developing kids. Today, it shot up to the 45th percentile! I had thought he was really growing lately, but was stunned. The doctor (who is ranked as one of the top docs in Dallas many years running) said that he had never seen anything quite like it, and had I been doing anything differently. I shared that we began homeschool this past year, which is undoubtedly less stressful, and that my son has been taking Ginko and other non-prescription supplements on the Changing Minds protocol. This doctor was very interested and was going to check Ben's growth hormone levels. He was supportive of the protocol as well. My question, could Ben's growth spurt be associated with the CM protocol that he has been on for the past 6-8 mos? I remember someone else mentioned that their child seemed to be experiencing a growth spurt since starting it. I had also read something about increases in head circumpherence. I am just curious if anyone else has experienced such a growth spurt, with or without the Ginko. Thanks!
Guest guest
Larissa, almost 14, is definitely growing. Now, she is kicking into beginning puberty, but, I just looked at DS charts, and there isn't really a "spurt" indicated - more of just an upward curve, whereas typical growth charts has that spurt area. Her growth appears to be really kicking in, although she probably will always be small. Mindy [DownSyndromeInfoExchange] unusual growth spurt!
