Guest guest
Dear Ginger, I'm so sorry for you, truly. Maybe it's that name, you have my baby (24) girl's name! LOL! If I were you, I'd ask why they require this test and say "I will not submit to it unless you explain the reason this is necessary." If you have one, take a tape recorder with you and ask if they mind if you tape the conversation. Don't tape without permission. That's not legal. The reason for taping is so you remember the reason for the test. Much information is technical, people without a medical background often have trouble understanding. I did and probably misunderstood much of what was said. Now I have a medical background AND take my husband with me! Blame it on brain fog ... or lapses. I'd never submit to a test without knowing why it was necessary. Hang in there! Love, Barbara
Guest guest
Thank you Barbara but he did say I wasn't making bone marrow and I may even need a bone marrow transplant. He really doesn't know if this is a part of something else going on in me. I doubt it as I haven't made bone marrow since my last bad flair. That's when it stopped. They wanted to do a bone marrow transplant then too but decided against it as it can kill or make better and being so sick with high fever they didn't feel it was a good idea then. These were a different doctor then this one. I am so worried and you are right, I am going to call him and demand him to call me back because I need to know what his plans are. Guest guest
Ginger, Your doctor may be right. I had a Neurosurgeon in Beverly Hills tell me he wouldn't do surgery on my back because he was afraid I wouldn't wake up from surgery. I was very sick at the time and in a lot of pain. You are entitled to second opinions. If he thinks you need a bone marrow transplant then ask him, or an expert in the field (like a specialist in a specialist - many doctors these days at Universities, etc., specialize within their specialty). If you have an HMO, it would be difficult for them to justify a denial for a referral. From your tests, it looks like you may be having a problem with bone marrow, but I'm not qualified to comment further.
