Guest guest
Im surprized you coulda held back wow shot at you probally warning shot but who cares whats that redneck saying (I HATE STUPID PEOPLE).Pretty hard to not get worked-up about that but happy you held back, let the athourities handle them, take care bud kinda like Jekell & hyde compared to good folks you met in Philly huh. d.Canada My "FUN" weekend Does anyone else here have an "Idiot Magnet" entombed somewhere in their body? I know I do, and always have, but I thought it was getting weaker....apparently not! I was in 2 bass tournaments this weekend. During the first one, I was fishing a very productive stretch of river when "BANG"..out of nowhere comes along, raining bird shot down on myself and my partner. A guy started screaming immediately afterwards "Get off of my ******* River....go ******* up,.......go *********down" and so on and so forth. I yelled back to him even though we had no idea where he was that we were fishing a tournament, and would leave when we felt like it.....a nice argument ensued when I finally located his Camouflaged boat that was set up as a duck blind. In hindsight I am glad my partner kept his cool, because I had every intention on ramming my boat into his and than beating him and his buddy to no end. I thought it ended there, but a short while later they fired two more shots at us. I asked the guys to meet me at the boat launch, but they weren't man enough. I now am dealing with the PA Game Commission and the Police. What is making me sick to my stomach is that they aren't sure what they can do as I was never close enough to get a good look at the guys. I guess it doesn't matter that I saw them launch the boat, know one of their names (another angler knows the guy,and told my partner who he was) and where the SOB lives. This guy better hope the police get him, at least he can keep his teeth that way! I could never have imagined how bad this has effected me. Shortly after I became "enraged", my body started to hurt like hell. By Sunday, I couldn't grip a fishing rod worth a damn, and my legs were like Jell-O. I have not had an appetite since, either. Sorry for the rant and content, but I had to get it off of my chest. It is now past midnight and I can not sleep at all. Guest guest
I knew they had to be warning shots as I was a good 200 to 250 meters away, and a shotgun with birdshot is effective up to what....50 meters? I suppose they thought our being there is the reason there wasn't a single duck anywhere near the island all day! I was going to forget about the whole incident after the first shot, but not after the 2nd & 3rd. I tried to offer him an "out" from the authorities by going man to man, but he apparently can only run his mouth when he has a gun. A real "tough guy" I figure. It is weird how life plays out. My normal partner (I nick-named him "Gungha", if you saw him you'd understand) is a very large man. He stands 6'4 1/2" tall and weighs right around 300 lbs. He is young (23) and naive, but a very good friend and a "Genuine Blast" to fish with. He is very much like me when it comes down to it in many ways. Luckily for these clowns, Gungha () could not attend the tournament, as I would not have had to decide to go after them, as he would have had the outboard started the second the guy started his "Get off my ******* river" speech. The partner I had is another member of our bass club, and has a cool head, thankfully. I know if Gungha was with me we would have either both been shot or there would be two duck hunters beaten to a pulp with their own guns. The scary thing to me is that I don't care if I die, I never used to be like that. I am still incredibly livid about the whole ordeal, and talking to the PA Game Commission officer isn't giving me any satisfaction. He is of the mindset that not much can be charged because I can't pick out a face. I suppose I was supposed to move in closer so that I could be a better target. I did see one of them with my binoculars, but he had on a hat, sunglasses and was wearing chest waders. There may be another avenue though thanks to a personal friend who is a policeman and attended the tournament. He told me to relax, if the Game Commission doesn't get him, he will contact the police from Exeter Borough (my hometown) and charge through them. The island falls under their jurisdiction. On the lighter side I told the game warden I guess I can now murder the guy(s) and get away with it. I was a good shot from up to 600 meters in the military, and hey, they won't be able to say for certain it was me! Only kidding! I don't even own a gun unless you count my BB gun! Effective range......150 feet! Besides, I prefer my way, even if it is outdated! Kirk. My "FUN" weekend Does anyone else here have an "Idiot Magnet" entombed somewhere in their body? Guest guest
I apologize to the group. That last reply was not supposed to go to the group, but individually. Guest guest
Catching them shouldn't be hard, I know one of the names, and located his address, which ironically, is a mere 1/2 mile from my business! What the Game Warden does with that is up to him. Thanks for the well wishes. Kirk. Re: My " FUN " weekend JEEZ! I hope they catch them . I am glad your ok! I hope you are feeling better.
