I can't address your specific situation. I don't know what "silicone" product you have selected and I don't know anything about the doctor who is administering it. Both of those issues are important to the overall outcome--or I would assume them to be.

I received 6 treatments of Silskin from Doctor Carruthers in Vancouver BC. I can tell you from my experience that two weeks after the first two treatments I was discouraged because I felt the initial difference I saw had disappeared. After the third treatment not only did I see a significant improvement but that improvement did not diminish. After the full 6 treatments I can tell you the difference was dramatic. I had my 6th treatment in September and so far not only have the changes maintained but I think there has been additional improvement (collagen forming around the silskin? I don't know) I had significant facial wasting, everything you would expect. Sunken temples, large divots below the cheek bones, and the large crevices running down to my jaw line.

You mentioned that the growing expense was driving you nuts. Did the doctor you are seeing give you any idea up front how many treatments might be required? At $900.00 a treatment I can understand your distress but if you were aware of the number of treatments that might be required that might relieve some of the distress.

I can't tell you what to expect as I mentioned earlier because the only thing I know about is the product I used and the doctors that treated me. Both of which I would recommend without hesitation and with complete and total confidence. Good luck and keep us posted.

I'm wondering if those of you who have done silicone microdroplet injections could share your experience with me. I've had 4 sets of injections so far, at a cost of $900 per visit. I started with moderate to severe lipoatrophy. So far I'm a little disappointed. I do see improvement, but it's subtle. When I discussed this with the doctor, he says that it takes a while for the improvements to become apparent. The first 3 sessions form a base for the later sessions. After about the fifth or sixth session I should really see the improvement happening. Does this square with any of your experiences? I'm this far into it, so I've decided to go for at least 6 treatments, but the growing expense is beginning to make me crazy. The doctor told me some of his patients needed 10 sessions, but that was the exception.Feel free to respond in general or to me personally.Thanks,nysongburt@... I thought of a couple other things which might be important regarding your question.

What quantity is being administered with each treatment? The study I was in specified that each treatment would consist of no more than 1ml of Silskin to each side of the face. A total of 2 ml for each treatment. If your doctor is injecting a lesser amount than this may be why you are not seeing the kinds of results you anticipated. Before you began did your doctor sit down with you to make sure you had realistic expectations of what to expect? I know Dr. Carruthers did this with me. He expressed confidence that "the look" could be corrected but quizzed me a lot about what I was hoping to achieve. He wanted to make sure I wasn't expecting a miracle transformation. I can tell you that while I don't look like I am in my 20's (because I am not--damn it) I do look significantly more youthful now that the look is gone. (Am I making any sense here? I know what it is I am trying to say but may not be expressing it clearly enough.).

I understand what you're saying, and like the idea, however, I think

that I would listen to your doctor. It might be very difficult to get

a really flat, good surface, uniform over your face. Fill in the

depressions as much as possible, and see what remains.

I had no problems with acne, ever using this product. Have not heard

reports of it, either.
