Hello & Penny, and all,This is an example of a common and egregious treatment of persons in vulnerable circumstances from persons from whom they expect professional care.

Although I see Fr. Tom seems to be more judicial, I would report this directly to the medical board today. Other persons less strong than the woman you described would have been forced into a tubal ligation (this happens throughout the country). When are we going to stop this? Don't expect the current Administration to do so.

I agree with Fr. Tom, that the woman should insist that her OBGYN object and put an end to this physician rotation. One thing is to have someone on call see you or fill in for illness, another thing is to have a different physician for five or six months and then yours for four or three remaining months.

40 years ago when I was a scrub nurse at UCSF, the kidney transplant surgeon used to routinely cut the spermatic cord on all young males having a kidney transplant " because they sure didn't need the problem of a baby... " .  Of course, no record was made of this.

These men don't deserve the name of physicians. They will receive their punishment in time.
