No he doesn't. He eats a lot of oatmeal which may be one reason his cholesterol went down but then his cholesterol is always on the low side. He says a lot of stuff tastes metallic and we never know from day to day what he will be able to handle. so we just plug along.

I lost my sense of taste for a while when I was on tx. Then everything tasted or smelled like burnt roast beef! Luckily, my nose got broken just after that & I lost most of my sense of smell & taste! It clicks on & off now but that's not the HCV, it's nerve damage from the break. SuZieAngelBskts@... wrote: In a message dated 1/25/2008 4:03:32 P.M. Maybe eggs just don't agree with him right now..There will be different foods he won't like or upset his system.I know meat products make the liver work harder, but am not sure about meat by poducts. The alts and ast are his liver function. They are higher then they should be,and treatment shouldn't make his cholesteral go up,but he should see the doctor about that.Diet will control that but with being on treatment that might be tricky.

I have a question - actually a couple. My hubby has noticed (as you have all mentioned) that certain things just don't taste good - he is getting used to that a bit but my question is this - do any of you have problems when eating eggs? The last couple of times he has had eggs he starts feeling bad shortly afterward and we are wondering if that is why.

Second question (and this may have been answered) what exactly is the AST and ALT? We got a copy of his latest blood work today and his AST is 79 (should be 10-35) and his ALT is 91 (should be 9-60). The

sides are a lot like the symptoms of hcv. Being diagnosed with a chronic possibly

life-threatening disease can cause depression, which can also cause the

symptoms you describe. Here’s what I want you to do, Sherry.

Think about every medication you’ve ever taken. Think about the

warnings that come with them. They’ll list like 100 things that

could happen. That’s because the law says they have to list it if

even one out of a million people get that side effect. Treatment meds are

the same way. There are 100 things that COULD happen, but they don’t happen to everybody or even

most everybody. Each body is different and will react to the meds

differently. Sure, SOME people might have to go 24 months with geno 1,

but MOST do 48 weeks. If you’ve been reading, you saw my post the

other day about how I said the worst that could happen was I’d lose my

job & therefore my house, etc, etc. And the doc said, no, the worst

that can happen is you have to stop tx.

We

tend to look at the worst possible scenario out of fear. We look at the

odds of not clearing instead of the odds of clearing. It’s about

the same – 50/50, so why not look at the bright 50 instead of the gloomy

50? No guts, no glory. You say you’re spiraling downward

right now, and I can sure relate. I’ve had one health problem after

another and hep was just another one in the series and it continues now.

I’ll be darned if I can figure out why God has put me on this path, but I’m

going to keep walking it and keep looking for the good to come from it.

What have you got to lose by doing tx? What have you got to gain?

At the very least, your liver will get a rest. At the best, you’ll

clear and maybe some of the other issues will resolve.

We’re

here for ya, honey,

Question

Hi Everyone, I have been

silently watching all the posts for over a

month now on the board - what a great board. Lots of useful

information and I have learned things I didn't know before. I have

read alot about how you feel during treatments. I have a question -

alot of things I read about about the effects of treatment, both

during and after I already have those problems. Lack of energy, lack

of interest, cannot concentrate, cannot work due to fatigue. Nausea,

stomach problems, bad vision problems, depression, moodiness, not

caring to leave the house to do anything! Is it normal to have all

these problems if your not going through treatment and if I do start

treatment, all these things going to get worse??? I am scared to

start treatment after reading about all the side effects. And if I

am going through this now, what is going to be like to go through

treatment. And I am told that with the type of HEP C (genotype 1A)

that it is the most resitant to treatment. And they tell me

normally with this type of HEP C it can take up to 24 months of

treatment to clear the virus if it works at all. Please help here.

I found out 2.5 yrs ago I had this and it seems like my life is

sprialing down and have had alot of new health issues come up. Vison

has gotten terrible - my teeth started falling out. Wound up getting

the ones I had left pulled. I have alot of days where i just want to

get up and run away.

Just looking for input as everyone on here seems to have quite a bit

of first hand knowledge.

Sorry for such a long post

Sherry

Hi sherry these problems sound as if they could be related to the hep c. I think that genotype 1 has a 50-50 chance to get rid of it. BUt i have talked to a lot of people that say even if it does not work you feel better after because while on treatment your liver is resting and not trying to fight the virus. good luck take it one day at a time right now. Get rest that will help and try to exercise even though you are tired it helps me. dSherry Ulrich wrote: Hi Everyone, I have been silently

Hello we have not met I am D. Some say not to worry about the viral load because it goes up and down all the time. All I know is that when I feel worse the viral load is much higher than when I feel well. But its not an indication of how much damage is dont to your liver. you can have minimal damage and viral loads in the millions. The only way to now for sure how much damage is through a biopsy. an ultra sound can tell a lot too.

Kathy, my experience with tx was that as time goes on and tx builds up in your system, you may have more sides and they may get worse. I started out with hardly no sides. An easy time of it. But, as time went by and I took more meds and shots it did build up in my system. Hence, more and stronger sides. But, still, I can't complain as others in group had much worse sides than I did. My main problem was fatigue, dizziness and aches in knee elbow and finger joints. These aches in the joints came on later in tx (approx. the last 3 months). I found that tylenol helped somewhat to ease that. Remember, everyone handles tx differently. Best of luck to you

and hugs, VickieG

question

Hi Gang,I posted that I had started tx last Friday. I didn't have much side affects. I was tired and had a slight fever w/chills saturday. Can I expect that this is the worst of it or is cumulative? Meaning, the longer I take the medicine, the more I will feel the impact of side affects? I feel like its a dumb question, but I am trying to stay one step ahead by being prepared for whatever is coming my way. Thanks for your patience.kathyaka Tek

You are asking great questions! And in this group the only stupid question is

the ones never asked.

I have done TX but I would have to agree with Vickie it does build up! The

cumulative effect. For some it is mild. For others it is rough. The thing to

remember, even if some of us did not clear with TX we did let our liver rest for

a while. I AM a 2 time none responder to TX. But would try again under the right

circumstances.

My hubby cleared with one round of TX! Thank heavens!! I don't think we could

have lived together another day with us BOTH on TX!!!!!

Drink lots of water and it does help with sides.

Best wishes to you

Hi, ! I have not done that yet, cause I have an addictive

personality, and could get stuck online for hours and hours. Exactly

what do you do that's entertaining? I need something to do while I'm

waiting fhr the phone call for my tp. Do you have frinds online, or

do you just bounce around? I'm a real Noob at this stuff. Hell, it's

3:30 a.m. here, and I can't sleep. Drinking water and peeing just

doesn't cut it for fun! lol What does mobbing mean? Thanks!

Hahahaha I sit around and pee all day too (lasix) lmao . It is a game where you get your myspace friends to join you as a family mob type group . You pull off missions for money and points , attack rival members(the best part of the game) and purchase equipment and territory . I have a blast , but because I only had a few friends I went and recruited some so my family size is almost 500 which is the max. I am listed on myspace as elizabethnv1 if you wanna come play .

In my '96 TX I used a bleach bottle cause the plastic is harder and

the large bottom/small spout keeps the syringes gathered at the

bottom (mostly). I kept it stored away-- LABELED CLEARLY.

My current TX provider (Bioplus, through the mail) sends me

containers when I need them, & I can send them back full.

I can also take them to my doc's office to dispose.

Best,

Not to mention brand names but Healthy Mouth is great - no alcohol, saccharin, etc - has aloe vera, tea tree oil, cloves and cinnamon oils and other good natural stuff in it. They also make other blends as well.

Chris

For the short term, I tried a sample Biotiene mouthwash that the dentist had given me. It calmed the soreness down, anyway. It was driving me crazier than the itching.New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Dining, Movies, Events, News more. Try it out!

I know - others here have mentioned it as well - not to endorse it but because it helps and doesn't contain alcohol - I think...

I’ll try it. Yeah, my other post wasn’t intended as an endorsement….
