Unfortunately, I have no good advice for you, sorry. But, I did want to

write to say that I think you'd be a great teacher!! Wish you could come

here and work in our school!! Good luck and keep us posted on how it

goes.

Thank you my concerns is how to teach such a critical areas to grades 3-5

with only 20 minutes per grade. But this is what was given to me to work

with. Just not sure how to present it and make sure the children walk away

understanding that people who are different are humans too with feelings and

emotions. Children are so self centered by nature so to get them to see

beyond self is going to be of challenge.

Maybe a few of the kids could be made up to be " different " in some way -

even strange looking clothes is sometimes enough to get kids' attention,

just to show them making fun of people or staring isn't polite. (Messy

hair. Spray on hair coloring)

Another idea is to maybe have someone roleplay an autistic or ADD person

some " unsocial " behavior? Maybe have two of them roleplay the person

with the challenge and one to be the teaser?

If you have help too, maybe taking a child that is early on in therapy,

possibly someone in a wheelchair or an autistic (pre-diet)

Another thing that comes to mind, after having my husband on crutches

over a month from a car accident, how helpless he has become, maybe have

kids try an obstacle course on crutches or wheelchair so they might be

of more help to others in the future. I have done a lot for my husband,

but there are things I just don't think about.

Also I just relate to how people stair when my daughter screams for

apparently no reason.

Hope these are of some help.

Regina
