Guest guest
Hello everyone, My name is . I am currently not obese, but overweight. I have actually joined a weight loss pool at work with a few ladies who wanted to kick start their weight loss. I have lost about 9lbs in 5 weeks. Which is pretty reasonable, given that I have been working out and eating better. Working out is not a problem for me...it's always food that gives me issues. I have been trying to balance my meals throughout the day (every 2-3 hours I munch on something). I keep from fast food, fried food, and sodas. Which were my ENEMY for a long time. I try not to tell myself that I am completely forbidden to eat these foods, because you almost want that food more because you can't have it. Anyway, I came across the vast world of podcasts, that I never even fully understood or knew it existed! I currently practice Yoga and love to meditate, so I figured maybe there was some type of weight loss motivation out there and I found this wonderful program. My question is, how often should these programs be played? Do you listen to them every day? Every week? I appreciate an input on this Thanks!! Guest guest
, first of all, welcome to the group. this is an excellent group of people to be a part of, and they are very kind and have tons of great ideas. you sound like you are doing excellently, congratulations! after I discovered the podcasts, I went back and started from the beginning because I was thrilled with what I heard. I usually listen to them when I take walks at work or at home, I've tried a couple times to listen before bed but 's beautiful and calming voice makes me fall asleep pretty quickly. when I first started from the beginning I listened to the podcasts a lot, one every day for awhile. I have been listening now for probably about 5 months. sometimes I will go through periods when I feel like I am too overwhelmed with good information, so I'll stop listening to them for awhile and just revisit some older concepts that have been introduced to me through the podcasts. then when I feel like I'm ready for extra motivation or some new information, I will start listening again. I have not yet made it through all of the podcasts, but I like that because it means I've got a lot more great information to learn and I already feel like I've come so far and learned so much. I have not re-listened to any of the podcasts yet, except for the guided journeys, which I keep around to listen to when I am craving some positive meditation. hope this is informative for you, and once again welcome! Guest guest
Welcome to the group, . I think that's a great idea to get support from a group, like the ladies at your work. And I agree with you when you said that you don't want to completely forbid certain foods, because it may create cravings for them. I have to have chocolate every once in a while (and not dark chocolate either)! There is usually one new podcast per week. It usually comes out on Thursday, but not always. In the beginning, I listened to them every day, probably 2-3 episodes per day. But, I missed a lot by going through them so rapidly. However, I have continued to listen to them over and over again for the past 7 months and the concepts are deeply ingrained in my mind now. I finish the whole series and return to the beginning and about every 2-4 weeks. Also, I think that the homework is important, especially the first few episodes that question why you want to change, because I think it sets a person up for a solid foundation for change. I have to admit that I've only completed the homework on paper for episodes 1-4. The rest, I do in my head. Some concepts and tools were very important to my inner change, others I toss aside. I kind of pick and chose whatever works for me. And are they working? You didn't ask, but I would definitely say " Yes, but... " Yes, they are working for me. I've lost a total of 48 lbs. (I had already lost 20 when I started listening.) I think they work, if you want them to work. If you're open to change, you'll make the change, and can make the transition much easier. I can't emphasize how much helped me to think of overeating in a new light. I no longer see it as pleasure; this was a really big change in my thinking (and actions). And, I am no longer struggling w/overeating; it's easy for me. However, it's not magic. You will find that some people still struggle and that's what this Yahoo group is for. And I have found that now that I no longer abuse food, I have all sorts of other emotions popping up in my life that I didn't address when I was busy buring myself in Twinkies.
