I think maybe it started from struggling to breath correctly for the last 3 years while my doctor thought it was all in my head and I thought I would die!!! - Costachondritis is inflammation in the joints which attach the

ribs to the sternum or sometimes you can get it in collarbone area,

often caused by constant coughing as in asthma. It is incredibly

painful every time you move. You need anti inflammatory tablets to

settle it but many asthmatics are allergic to it, makes them wheeze. If

you've never had it,hope you never do!

Never had that although I have had my ribs mildly hurt when my asthma was especially bad. I took a lot of anti inflammatories for my back and knee problems. That's probably why I never got it. I can't take them now because my liver function got out of whack. I'm fine now, thank God. Thanks, I hope I don't get it either. June Fraser wrote:

--- welcome and dont forget there is a lot of info out there

In asthma , " shortestone2003 " <shortestone2003@y...>

wrAsking for help and new ideas and approaches

asking for help is a very good way to get help , i read so many of

the messages here and so many people struggling away putting up with

all sorts of grief .

a lot of people just want to sound off which is fine and some want

some support too which is fine.

but when your at your wits end or at a situation which is difficult,

it makes a lot of sense to ask for some help , i feel that perhaps

through pride or ego many of you just struggle on needlessly

suffering .

so i would encourage you to ask. for new ideas, new ways, to tackle

things

so many people have new ideas, new approaches just a bit of info for

you may make an enormous difference to your l;ife

Hi Tonya, Asthma is a controllable disease. Make sure you get the

proper education on the disease and its triggers. Please let me know

if you have any questions.

Hi Tonya, welcome to the group. I'm and I've had asthma for a number of years. Ask all the questions you want and we'll try to answer them. Matt is a respiratory therapist so he will be able to answer more than most of us will. I hate having it myself and hate it when someone joins the group as an adult, but when it's a kid I hate it even more. Take care and give him a big hug for me, Matt Anders wrote:

Hi Hicando and welcome.

I don't like cold water or cold air. It takes my breath like my body has been shocked. I love to swim but the water has to be reasonably warm, not cold. I don't have a lot of stamina for swimming because of the asthma and arthritis that makes me hurt. I'm 47 and I too have had asthma most of my life but it has been worse the past 18 years since I was officially diagnosed. My mom tells me I was fairly bad as a child, then it settled down. I started smoking at 15 and quit 6 years ago after doing it for 26 years.

Take care,

Hello and welcome

Glad to hear you have had a good time with your new buddy. It's so cool when you get to fit into old things - like going shopping with out the credit card bill <ouch>.

We talk about everything here, there are no secrets and nothing is too taboo I don't think?!?

Dear ,

Welcome to SydBand. I have only been banded since 5 June 06 - so I am very new to the whole band journey.

I have found everyone on this site to be absolutely kind and generous, both with their time, experiences and information.

Hope to see you at one of the monthly luncheons etc.

Best wishes,

Libby
