Are you sure this refers to a medical term here? When I read this sentence I though it was something related to law. Hope this helps. I have been an employee of a diagnostics/pharmaceutical company for over 10 years. My Spanish colleague and I as well used to use the the Spanish word " liberacion " as the translation of the English word " release " in such cases. In these cases the word indeed means that the information is " authorized for further distribution " . Hope this helps. Release of information here has a similar meaning of a Press release, which is usually translated into Comunicado de Imprensa. Perhaps you can find a better or more suitable word for your text, but this is the idea. Good work! Release of information here has a similar meaning of a Press release, which is usually translated into Comunicado de Imprensa. In Medicine, 90% of the time, at least in all the similar forms I translated and ordered signed to the patients, this forms refer to consent to certain procedures (this signature already releases the doctor from legal problems (in some cases), and the release is because the information should be confidential but sometimes, for instance, in cases of very expensive procedures that must be approved by the Insurance company, or in research, the information must be seen by certain organisms, (Medicaid, inurance, as I said, even other doctors). So the patient authorizes that the information will be made " public " to certain third parties. I am positive that that same document is translating includes somewhere the note that the patient is entitled to cancel this release whenever he considers convenient.
