The Animal Rehabilitation Special Interest Group of the American Physical Therapy Association will be having its annual Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) in San Diego, California, Wednesday, February 17 to Saturday, February 20. Of interest this year is not only the AR-SIG Business Meeting (7:00 AM(!!!) on Friday February 19) and Educational Programming (see below for details), but a lunchtime legislative discussion on Thursday, Februarry 18. This discussion, the first of its kind within the APTA, is by reservation only and will include a panel discussion/presentation and open forum. Contributing to the panel are Elliott (APTA), (AR-SIG), (FSBPT), Welk, and Dr. Janet VanDyke. (We thank each of them for their contribution!!! It's certain to be a dynamic sessin.) Amie Complex Cases in Animal Rehabilitation Friday, February 19 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM (Course Level - Intermediate) - 0.300 CEUs Brought to you by the Animal Physical Therapy Special Interest Group of the Orthopaedic Section, this series of case presentations will review complicated case studies related to canine and equine rehabilitation. Medical history, differential diagnosis, treatment and outcomes will be reviewed for a variety of orthopedic and neurologic pathologies in the horse and dog. Time will be allotted for questions and case discussions will be encouraged. Upon completion of this course, you'll be able to: 1) Describe the benefits of physical therapy for equine and canine rehabilitation patients. 2) Describe types of specific rehabilitation techniques for the equine and canine patient. 3) Observe, through case studies, the application of physical therapy techniques to equine and canine rehabilitation patients with orthopedic and neurologic pathologies. 4) Discuss variable treatment options of specific equine and canine pathologies.
