Guest guest
We had a neurodevelopmental evaluation done diagnosing with PDD. We also just got done with our three year evaluations done through the school system. OT is 's weakness, she needs help with handwritting and snaps and zippers. Her reading eval was not a true picture of her, that is one of her strengths. I requested another one and am waiting for the results. Jess is smart, she can read, has unbelievable computer skills, the memory of an elephant, know all music, the artists, etc. She has been out of district because they hand pick who they want in my school district to be in the PDD class " in district " . I think I may have to fight or move out of town. But I think I'll fight..... maybe then move out of town. What is letter for a stranger? If the township doesn't give my daughter a place in district, they don't want to ---- with me. Its tough I'm a single mom and doing this IEP thing alone. I appreciate your help. K well, i dont know what evaluations you have had done or how old your daughter is... but, the most important evaluations i have had done are the neuro-psychological eval and occupational therapy eval. those 2 evaluations are the ones who shed the most light, to her teachers, on her problems. without knowing your exact situation its really hard for me to suggest anything except for that. make sure you document everything... leave a letter trail (use the format 'letter to a stranger') so everyone will know exactly what has been going on. carbon copy it to everyone... board of education members, social skills teachers, atusim fascilitators for your school district, special education director... keep everything in binders... mark the sections so you can find things easily when asked... make sure you know what the process is that you have to go through... with our school system we have to first go through the school then through special education then the board of education (which would be a county level) then if all else fails we go to the board of commisioners for the county. i have found out that its not always the sqeaky wheel that gets the grease in some cases. in my case some people had stopped replying to my letters because i had given them a hard time so i went one step above them. Guest guest
letter to a stranger is a letter that tells all of the problem that is going on right now... not her entire life story but each detail of what is going on right now... for example. i wrote a letter to the principal about bus issues that have been going on for months... in one part of the letter i said that school starts at 9:05, she knows this is the time school starts but a stranger wouldnt know... if you ever had to go to court... someone you dont know would be reading this information... so include everything you need to include so anyone who reads your letter will know exactly what you are talking about in any situation. understand?
