Guest guest
, My daughter is on risperdal 2x day. It doesn't make her sleepy. I think it migh affect each child differently. How much blood needs to be drawn. My daughter is 6yrs old, diagnosis at 22mos. She is non-verbal & is in the moderate range. I take my husband with her & he is able to restrain her so they can get the blood. If meds are needed, I would ask the dr about clonidine. My daughter takes that in the evening to help her get to sleep & stay asleep. A child is like a butterfly in the wind, some fly faster, some fly harder but they all fly the best they can. Each one is different, each one is beautiful and each one is special. New with a question... Hi everyone - My sweet daughter tte is 2 yrs and 4 mos and was diagnosed Autistic at 14 mo. We are trying to get blood work for her and she just goes ballistic. The doctor wants to give her Risperdal to put her to sleep so tht they can draw the blood. My question is how long does risperdal take to work? Will she be sleepy all day? Are there any short term side effects? Thank you all for this advice. B. Guest guest
The cream Sondra mentioned is EMLA cream. My daughter doesn't like being restrained for the blood draw. We just make sure to take Daddy with us, and he holds her firmly, and the blood draw happens fairly quickly. She's madder than an old wet hen, but it doesn't really hurt her. Clinics like Pfeiffer will pappoose (sp?) the kids if needed, but as long as DH comes, we have never had to resort to restraints. > Hi everyone - My sweet daughter tte is 2 yrs and 4 mos and was > diagnosed Autistic at 14 mo.
