BPPV maneuvers

if someone could give me direction here, i have looked at all the

posting for specifics on the maneuvers for BPPV. I have a 4 year old

mixed breed (in foster care for 2 months) with vestibular,

peripheral, horizontal nystagmus when there is position change,

nausea, drooling, head tilt both sides. The dog has had suspected

hearing loss for the past 2 months, but has improved since this

recent vestibular event. The referring veterinarian would like me to

try the Epley maneuver on this dog as he feels he might be a

successful candidate, and this will be performed in his office.

i have downloaded information from the vestibular disorders

association and the study by Herdman et al, it has pictures and video

of the maneuvers for humans, but obviously not for dogs...

I have read Cauleys proccedings from Minnesotta, but have

not found specifics for doing these maneuvers...

My question, can anyone give me some help with how to perform these

on a dog...From what i can see it will be a challenge to have a dog

lying on its back for 30 seconds while i turn the head to determine

which ear provokes the positional nystagmus... and then further carry

out the Epley maneuvers to correct the canilth repositioning.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tania

Tania -- it seems that hands-on learning of this technique is needed, from what I understood from the speaker in Minneapolis. I'm hoping that the program organizers for the next symposium might include a lab on vestibular techniques.
