MEETING PRESENTATIONS

1. The Three C's For a Positive Parent and Professional Relationship:

Communicate, Collaborate, and ate

presented by, Mika Bradford, CN

Mika Bradford, is FEAT-NT's Director of Community Outreach and has served on

the Board for more than five years. She is a mother of 5, including a son with

Autism. Mika is a certified nutritional specialist with emphasis on the

nutritional needs of children with Autism. Mika's passions include advocating

the

need for scientific evidence based teaching strategies.

.. Early diagnosis is providing a greater opportunity for early intervention.

.. The New Breed of Special Education Parents.

.. Communication; the most important thing to establish.

.. Collaborate; two heads are better than one.

.. ate; work together to find solutions.

2. Tips from Two Parents Whose Hard Work is Leading to Success

presented by, Past FEAT-NT Board Member

J Reirdon and his wife Bethany.

.. Way of life: Know your program well enough to support, reinforce and

generalize to the Natural Environment.

.. Keep learning: Read and talk to other parents. Find out what is working for

others and what isn't. If something is not working for your child, then do

something else.

.. Advocate for your child: Step up for your child and be your child's

champion. Nobody will fight for your child like you will. Nobody knows your

child and

what they need better than you, their parent. Don't take a consultant or a

doctor's word just because they have initials after their name. Read and

research everyone and their ideas. If something doesn't sound right, it probably

isn't. Trust your instincts as a parent.

.. Treat the whole child: A child can learn better when they feel better and

are not in a fog. Look and learn at the biomedical issues. Every child is

different.

3. The Long Haul presented by, Pam Lorzadeh

Pam Lorzadeh is the mother of two children diagnosed ASD. Her journey with

her boys began 11 years ago when both were diagnosed, one at 18 months old and

one at 3 years old. Ever since that time, Pam has worked tirelessly to give

her boys a fulfilling functional life.

Pam Lorazeh is a Past President of FEAT North Texas, as well as a former

professional ABA therapist. She currently is at home, working as a therapist

with

her boys and seeing them through the middle school years.

You won't want to miss Pam's inspiring story, recounting the many ups and

down she and her boys have had together over the years. Pam will also take your

questions and offer tips to other families who find themselves on this road.
