Guest guest
Wyland 51M Married.......Hi and welcome. I would be very concerned, and so should your doctor be, about the depression. I assume your a genotype 2 or 3 because of the first 24 week treatment.. 92 Million is very high and hard to overcome. Fortunately, it doesn't reflect the amount of damage to your liver. Did your PCR jump up a lot higher after first treatment? Mine did. But yours is the highest I've ever heard of. Again don't worry too much about that number. The problem is what treatment is doing to you. There's no shame in stopping. doesn't mean your a loser or that your going to die. Maybe it's time to stop and let all this clear out and then see how you feel. High in the Colorado Rockies......ric richobbs1@... Guest guest
Ric, THanks for responding. You are correct, my genotype is 3. I am also is stage 3 of fibrosis. It was hard to find a Dr. that was willing to treat me. Two of them told me they had never seen a viral load that high. I feel I can't take the cahnce on quiting the shots. I am not quite sure which is worse. The depression and extreem lack of energy or just giving up. Thanks again for responding, Wyland Re: High viral load Wyland 51M Married.......Hi and welcome. Guest guest
Hi , I finished my 24 week treatment three weeks ago. There is no way I would have finished treatment without antideppressants (remeron). I just want to wish you good luck and echo what Doug said GET MEDICATION FOR THE SIDES!!! Guest guest
Alley, That you for the note. That;s a roger on the mood swings. My wife has wiplash from my dramatic mood swings. I am holding myself together...barely....but I am hanging in there. I am going to get rid of this disease!!! (I hope). When I was first diagnosed almost twwo years ago I had a viral load of 15 Mil. Half way thru my 24 week tx it was undectiable. Two weeks after I completed my tx it was back up to 3 Mil. 4 months after my viral load was 92.6 Mil. I am in my 5th week of my current 48 week tx. Chris Re: High viral load Hi nice to meet you. High viral load is a pain. Viral load can fluctuate. Nonresponders often have their viral load spike right after treatment and often it settles down a few years later (if they don't retreat). Most people with any chronic condition have depression, so that's nothing new really. And on of the the biggest sides of Interferon is depression, so I'd say get on a good antidepressant if you aren't already. The mood swings are a pain (I keep wanting to say the b word LOL) but they don't last forever. I don't know how my husband put up with me then. My problem is I can't take SSRI type antidepressants. They make me depressed. I can only take the type that work on dopamine, like Wellbutrin (Zyban). So finding the right one might take a psychiatrist (my gastro didn't know this and prescribed me SSRI's, made me more depressed). There are some good chat rooms on places like www.delphiforums.com for hep c. Tell them Alley sent ya Alley
