One more thing to add to my previous (somewhat mamouth post) is an IQ

score, having given into the temptation once more my Emode IQ result

was 155. It is kind of nice taking a test and being told you are in

genius range, or at least it is nice until you start comparing that

result with multiple years spent failing at things like University and

now being nearly 25 and still an unemployed bum :(. Ah well, time I

think to withdraw socially for a while so I can hear myself think and

might be able to sort stuff out for a change.

I did 153 on the Emode super IQ test or whatever it is called, but for

some reason, I only score about 135 or so on the classical IQ test.

Some of the answers on that one were ambiguous, and I think I might have

gone for the " wrong " ones. As an example... let me ask, which one of

these animals does not belong in the group?

1. Cat

2. Alligator

3. Horse

4. Chicken

5. Pig

There is only one right answer. Anyone want to guess what it is?

I hate questions like that. You can make a persuasive argument for

any one of those five that it doesn't belong with the other four.

The answer I was looking for was alligator. All the others are

warm-blooded.

See what I mean? :)

1. Cat

2. Alligator

3. Horse

4. Chicken

5. Pig

--- Alligator, because the others are warm blooded, and the Aligator is cold

blooded.

But there are many other ways to group the animals, too.

I was a brainy git..... but now im not. I only got 125 on that super

test thingy (:-() here's my certificat of achievment, or whatever.

gareth, your Super IQ score is 125

Your overall intelligence quotient is the result of a scientifically-

tested formula based on how many questions you answered correctly.

But it's only part of what we learned about you from your answers on

the test. We also determined the way you process information.

The way you think about things makes you a Concrete Thinker. This

means your intelligence is grounded in a clear understanding of what

is happening around you. In situations where others are confused,

things are crystal clear to you. In addition, you have the unusual

combination of strong verbal and numerical skills. You are able to

solve equations and then use your verbal skills to explain those

solutions to others.

How did we determine that your thinking style is that of a Concrete

Thinker? When we examined your test results further, we analyzed how

you scored on 8 dimensions of intelligence: spatial, organizational,

abstract reasoning, logical, mechanical, verbal, visual and

numerical. The 3 dimensions you scored highest on combine to make you

a Concrete Thinker. Only 6 out of 1,000 people have this rare

combination of abilities.

Find out which 3 intelligence dimensions you scored the highest on

and how your IQ score compares to others in your personalized, 31-

page Super IQ Report. It's ready right now!

I just got done eating four italian sausages, so pig is food for me too.

I just retook the classic IQ test at emode, scored 136 (same as before),

then changed the answer on this one, and found out that indeed, they

thought I was wrong, when I think I was right:

http://home.att.net/~ascaris1/question.PNG

I think the answer is obviously the fifth choice. It is the only one

that is asymmetrical. However, Emode seems to think it is the second one.

And this one:

27. Which one of these five things is least like the other four?

Coconut

Grape

Banana

Apple

Pear

They seem to think that the answer is grape, but I don't see that as

correct. Grapes grow on vines, the others on trees, but the concept of

" tree " is an artificial one, as far as this is concerned; a palm tree

upon which a coconut grows is not that similar to an apple or pear tree,

and the banana tree (a plantain) is again dissimilar. As such, the big

difference is the fact that a coconut is a nut, more similar to a walnut

or an acorn than it is to a grape.

In addition, I do not see how botanical knowledge of this sort indicates

a higher IQ.

Yeah, I don't care what anyone else eats,

just know what *I* can eat.

That's the one I picked too, same reason.

I agree with you there too, for the same reason, that's it's

a nut. Hard shell and all that, as opposed to thin skin.

Plus, it's the only one I *can't* eat, 'cause I have false

uppers, and don't bother to wear them anyway. 8<{) How in

hell is a grape more different than the others?

I'd agree with that too, but where's the test?

The first one is the classic test, the second the super IQ test. I did

better on the super test, Gareth better on the first one. I think that

just shows that one or both are not particularly good at measuring IQ.

I still have not found a free one as good as the culture-fair IQ test on

queendom.com (which was free when I took it, but costs money now).

I get 133 on both of those. I suspect some of the difference comes

from the other one (where I got 155) being timed and the amount of

time being factored into the results. Either way results tend to be

somewhat dubious if entertaining.

Hmm.. interesting.. i'm noticing in myself a wish to dismiss the test

that resulted in the lower IQ score but not in the case where I got a

high result, Oh well... an inconsistancy to watch for I suppose.

Okay, I took the second one, the super IQ test. I won't

lie to you, I got 133. But I think that they take your

age into account, and so my being 57 counts against me.

I wonder what they would say I scored if I told them I

was 32? Seemed a fair test to me, but that lap, lop,

lup thing threw me for a loop.

Just before I was given the score, it said I was nearly

31 million minutes old. Then I got an email from them

that said my " thinking style " was, (are you ready?) a

Creative Theorist ! It said I was highly imaginative,

and excel at being innovative and conjuring up notions

of what *could* be. Damn, I think that's pretty good,

spot on!

People keep pigs as pets, Chinese pot-bellied pigs.

Also some type from Vietnam. Horses are seen as pets,

though probably not housepets. They stay in the barn.

Someone was arrested recently for keeping an alligator

as a housepet.

I don't know if it considers age. It has been a while since I created

my emode profile, so I don't know. Theoretically, IQ tests should

consider age, but I have no idea how these things were designed. Some

only have one category for adults of a certain age or older, so you may

have topped out years ago.

I just did another Meyers-Briggs personality sorter thing. I have

always scored INTP or ISTP on all of these, but the scores are so close

on the N/S thing... I'm really right at the boundary between the two.

This one I just did was a crusty old DOS app, was quite long, and it put

me as ISTP, but the score for " S " was 28 and " N " was 27, so it was very

close again. If I read the descriptions of ISTP and INTP, though, I am

much closer to INTP.

Actually, not the case anymore. :-) Miniature horses are now trained as

guides for the blind with the same functionality (and cleanliness) as Guide

Dogs. I've heard that they also have some functionality that the dogs

lack, but I can't remember offhand what they are.

Well, now I took the first one, and got 139. I think

that the math questions on both kicked my ass. I'm

that iq test is not worth a squit. i got 155 too, and that is wayyyyy to high.

i teach a child whose iq is 155 and she learns faster than i can show her

things. those tests hope to tempt you to buy a product usually. so it is in

their interests to please and excite you.

The super IQ told me I am an abstract thinker- I got 99% on that one, which

makes sense to me. That's why I do very well at Chemistry and Microbiology. I

got 120 on the test.

My style is " Complex Intellectual " - 6 out of 1,000 people think like I do. I

think the way it separates out certain skills is very accurate, as it said my

mechanical skills weren't so hot- and they aren't. That's why I need so much

help with technique in the lab- and I bump into things. Physics was my worst

subject.

I got the lap-lop thing- the toughest one was the lighting bolt one. I hated

that one.

Overall, I think is right. These tests really don't measure IQ all that

well, but the styles I think are accurate.
