Look the word up in the dictionary and you will see that my definition is a

good one. You are talking about some of the negative associations with

dieting, and as far as I am concerned all disciplined forms of eating have

them. Even in carb counting they exhist, for example I would not be happy

with the meal you described where you ate the sloppy Joe with only the

bottom of the bun, some vegies and some pork rinds. I don't particularly

like pork rinds, I don't care much for raw vegies unless I drench them with

dressing, and I would not be happy with just the bottom of the bun. I also

don't like to exercise and therefore don't do much of it. I know all the

negative effects on my sugar from living this way, and I might change it

someday, but I doubt that today will be that day. LaWanda At 10:08 AM

Bill,

I wish I could say that made me feel good. As it is I have always

seen my body as the necessary thing which carries my mind around.

Most of my life I have wished I didn't have one but it has to cart my

mind around. And if anyone tells me how good I look or how much

weight I've lost or any of that stuff I'll have to restrain myself

from wanting to slug them. Of course I will be polite but it will not

be pleasant to hear and I'll try to get off the subject as possible

even if it means I have to tell them I didn't do it by choice. I'll

have capitulated to this damned thing and am now being praised for

it! Self-confidence? Not for me.

I've probably said way too much already about this subject and I don't

expect anyone to answer; so don't be surprised if I remain quiet

except to ask or respond to specific questions.

Thanks a lot; and please know that I didn't mean to offend.

Pam

Pam,

I know what you mean about liking seasonal candy. My favorite thing is

Peeps, but now that I know I have diabetes I guess I'll have to give

those

up next year since we all know Peeps are just loaded with sugar. I

know, I'm

a big 51-year-old kid but I still love my Peeps.

Paraphrasing what LaWanda said in one of her posts, all planned eating

is a

diet however loose or rigid it is, so no matter how you shuffle it,

you're

on some kind of diet. And as tough as this might sound, for all the

valid

reasons you might have to put up a " fight " against discipline in what

you

eat, you can't fool your body, it knows what you eat and if you play

your

cards right, in time you will gain some much-needed self-confidence by

getting the upper hand on your sugars, probably losing some inches and

ultimately feeling better both physically and mentally. It won't be

your

rigid mother that wins this battle, it'll be you for treating yourself

right. And you can take comfort in knowing there are a bunch of us out

here

who have these same kinds of battles to different degrees, so we share

your

frustration and will try to bolster you up rather than tear you down.

I know

it's hard to realize but you don't have to have those chains of the

past,

you have a little support network right here right now to tell you

that

you're free to treat yourself right. You are wise to be in therapy to

deal

with the scars of your past, but just realize we are all here to help

you

along if we can.

then

go for it!

Peeps are marshmellow candies usually in the shape of chickens that come out

around Easter time. It's all marshmellow and sugar coating which is why

they're so bad for you, but for some stupid reason I just love 'em.

marshmallow shaped chickens covered in grains of colored sugar such as

yellow, purple, etc. Basically, just a big blob of marshmallow with sugar

crystals all over it LOL BTW Bill I still say eat the heads off the peeps

and find out the carbs in 1 and just do what you have to do to cover for

them. If you get 40 carbs for lunch, eat 20 carbs of peeps and your good

smiles.

hey try leaving them out so they get hard and try one then! Peep lovers say

they are the best that way. I am not fond of peeps but leave them out in a

bowl for 24 hours then try one and I guess they are great.

That's probably what I'm going to do come next Easter time, because I don't

want to give up my Peeps. Speaking of those, after hearing that Peeps were

going to make some special July 4th Peeps this year, I could never find any

after scouring all the local stores so I missed out on another opportunity

to have those. Boy, I must be rebelling against not having enough of them

when I was growing up, so now I can have 'em when I can find 'em.

That's right, they are much better when they get a little hard. I sometimes

put a few in the freezer for just a while and accomplish the same thing, but

you can't put them in for too long or else you won't be able to bite into

them! See, there is an art to eating Peeps. But alas, I have to wait til

Easter.....

serving

and then figure out what you can have and you'll be fine.

When I mentioned them to Dave he said he thought they were sugar and

marshmallow, but in the shape of bunnies. Yes I've had the chickens

but didn't know their official name. I liked " those little hearts

with the sayings on them " long before I knew they were known as

conversation hearts.

When I looked at that site I found that a Peep has 32 calories but there's a

dash through the carb listing so not much info on it.

Yup I know they make Peep bunnies as well as the chickens, and now you know

what they say don't you? " Chicken is better for you... " Uh, oh that's right,

we're talking about Peeps. Wish I had more nutrition info on them but

nothing in that database on gave me a link to. At one time I remember a

Thanksgiving where the people who make Peeps made up these little " hot dogs

in a bun " kinda things, small but they did look like a hot dog in a bun, and

they were ummm good. And a couple of years ago they made Christmas trees and

Santas that were all marshmellow peep-type candies too. Last year didn't

find any though.

Gee, just thinking about this is making me hungry....gotta stop that!

Take care,

whatever you do Bill, don't try to roast a peep over a camp fire. My buddy

did it and it ignited/blew up sort of and melted to nothing and fell in the

fire. Bare in mind, this was in seconds of just getting it close to the fire

LOL talk about eating things that are bad for us LOL

Oh yeah, flammable Peeps. Putting next to a fire is a no-no because it's

basically air and sugar. At least you can roast a marshmellow, but even then

you gotta be careful. I never thought of putting a Peep next to a fire....I

know there must be a joke in this somewhere that the DJ side of me is

looking for but dang if I can think of a clever line here. Maybe my mind has

turned to marshmellows already. So what the hay if I'm Mr. Stay Puft

Man......
