$6.75....

who got her art history lesson of the day - the guys birth date jumped

right out at me - Sept 28th - my dad's - oops no, Sept 28th is the birth

date of the girl named Jill who lived across the road from me when I was

3-8. My Dad's was the 27th and I mixed them up for years..... until my

sister pointed out that my brother was born 9 months to the day after my

dad's birthday (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) and since I knew his was June

27th I was thereafter always able to remember when my Dad's was, even if I

still have to do the math.....

Oh wow, I vaguely remember the Witch.

Cute blonde girl with a red hooded robe.

Was she in a comic book like " Little Dot " or

" Lotta " ?

Anyone remember Jane and Sniffles? She

could say a little spell or something, and

become the same size as her pet mouse, (or was

it a hamster?), and they'd go off on adventures.

Harvey Comics' The Good Little Witch? I remember it well. I think the

character was featured in a separate comic book at one time, as were Little Dot

and Little Lotta (published by the same company).

Incidentally, the artist who designed (or re-designed, in the case of Casper)

the Harvey characters, as well as create Richie Rich, died recently, according

to the Cartoon Research site. His name was Warren Kremer.

Thanks , but what about Jane and Sniffles?

I think maybe she was the last story in Unca Scrooge

Comics, though sometimes it was " Droopy " the dog.

Man, I wish I could have saved all my old comic books,

they'd be worth a young fortune. BTW, I learned to read

by reading along with my older sisters while they read

Duck in the Sunday Funnies. I was 3. I had no

trouble understanding " The Katzenjammer Kids " .

Nope. She was Casper the Friendly Ghost's friend, but you got the look

right. My favorite Romper Room episodes were the ones where the Witch

was in the Casper cartoons.

I don't remember Jane and Sniffles, but that sounds like something I

would have loved. One of my favorite stories was about a kid who could

shrink. It was in a Childcraft book. I'll have to go look that up :o).

I have a nephew who is a computer animator - he was 6 when Star Wars first

came out, the ultimate SW fan he grew up to work on the Staw Wars movies,

even the remakes of the originals - EVEN got a split second walk on part in

a new scene in the remake of the FIRST movie!! Cool.

He went on to do the 2nd & 3rd Lord of the Rings and 2nd & 3rd Matrix.

He may be heading back to Canada now to do a Disney film.

Anyway...... the first movie he worked on was Casper

man " Romper Room " was some blast from the past!!

Hi,

No, was a friend of Casper. Casper had more personality in the comics, and

more of a history. The Harvey artists created a whole " universe " for Casper in

the comics, which included and her " wicked witch " guardians, The Ghostly

Trio, Spooky, Hot Stuff, and so on. RIchie Rich and do have a couple of

common threads in that they were both Harvey Comics characters, and

designed/drawn by the same man (Warren Kremer). But they were not part of the

same " universe. " Does that make sense?

no you're right, but both were popular at the same time (I'm talking

early 1970's here) and that is the connection for me at least.
