Hi Margaret,

Red Yeast Rice is a natural statin. It can cause all the same adverse

effects as prescription statins. Crestor is the most potent statin on

the market today. Not surprising that you experienced almost immediate

side effects. People with high cholesterol live long healthy lives.

It's not high cholesterol that causes strokes and heart attacks, it's

inflammation.

The primary benefit of all statins is they are a potent

anti-inflammatory. The fact that statins also reduce cholesterol

levels is " irrelevant " .

Dr Duane Graveline's recommended " statin alternatives " are an

anti-oxidant, they reduce platelet stickiness and control (toxic)

homocysteine levels...

1) buffered aspirin - 81 mg

2) CoQ10 - 100 to 150 mg [gelcaps (not powdered) with some vit E]

3) folic acid - 400-800 mcg

B6 - 80-100mg

B12 - 200-250mcg

4) Omega 3 (fish oil or cod liver oil) [ There is no upper limit.]

These four items/categories have the same anti-inflammatory affect as

20 mg's of Lipitor, without side effects.

Those suffering from TGA (transient global amnesia) and/or persistent

memory loss may need to take much higher doses of CoQ10 - maybe as

high as 1,200 to 1,500 mg.

So far, there are over 500 documented TGA cases caused by statins.

after trying red yeast rice for months, it never got my ldl below 350,

i started taking Crestor. immediately i started having hot flashes,

followed by being cold. also i seemed to be having asthma attacks.

needless to say i stopped the Crestor after only taking it for 10 days.

my body's thermostat seems to be regulating itself again.

my doctor is positive i will die,or worse, suffer a debilitating stroke.

any sugestions out there.
