Hey Nic, I just got an email from Bill (that's what it said).

Telling me the last day to register for round two is March 7th etc., etc. I

registered over the internet before Christmas. Do you think I should call or

just wait til the end and send in my pics and questionnaire? cyn

The only way I can describe it succinctly, for right now till I figure it out

more, is that when the weight is too heavy, you are tired, fatigued, in

pain....you just do it anyway...ofcourse unless the pain is a bad pain.

Breathe and push, breathe and push...till it's complete. Draw yourself into

your head (heart and soul) and stop thinking about yourself from the

perspective of where the weight is stressing. And just push! Believe that you

can do it. It's easier to do with a partner so you don't worry about hurting

yourself and you trust that they can spot and force rep you. If you get that

last rep up, go for one more. If you get that one up, no matter how much is

sux, DO ONE MORE. If you can get it 1/2 way up then your spotter should know

that you need a force rep. Keep going with a force rep till you lock up and

your muscle's glycogen stores are empty. TRUE MUSCLE FATIGUE! Your muscles

will just be so limp, numb and lifeless you can't do anymore. I have only

done that on " safe " exercises. But to do it for the whole workout with every

exercise is an absolute blast!

Screw the last set being 12 reps! KEEP GOING TILL YOU ARE SPENT!!!!

If it takes more than 12 reps to expire you then you know next time to add

more weight.

I'm a little freaked right now. I called BFL and they do not have me

registered as a contestant! I registered via the internet in Dec. They dont

have record of a competitor profile form (boo-hoo). The guy said he wanted

to transfer me to one of the judges so I could talk to them and when the

voice mail came on it was Porter. I've left a detailed msg , we'll see what

happens.....cyn

Porter Freeman called me today (guess I am a confirmed groupie now, I was so

psyched!) and said that over 200,000 folks had registered for round one and

they possibly just haven't entered them all into the computer. He said not

to worry just to send my end package in and not to worry about them not

finding my competitor profile. cyn

Nic, what a fantastic experience. You write it so well becuz you feel

it so deeply. I felt like I was there lifting with you. I've been

very lucky to have experienced those types of workout years ago when I

use to manage a health club, I got the chance to workout with real pros

who's workout styles are like Bill's. But the last few years it's been

just me, I'm trying to teach my husband how to spot, sometimes he does

ok but usually he takes to much of the wt away from me (you know what I

mean).

Time was perfect for you, now if you find a go partner you'll really

kick butt for the finally part of your challenge. When we get to

Vegas, remind me how good it feels by pushing me to reach past a 10.

I just wanted to let you know that I've reach the 20 yr bench goal

last week, so I have to set a higher one. I have reached most of the

goals I set for myself this challenge. But my illness keeps trying to

hold me down, I haven't worked out this week, in bed with high fevers I

thought I had brain cancer my head hurt so bad, and I've lost 5 lean

body pounds. My progress has been hampered but I will still finish this

round, that is my main goal now - I will not give in or up!

I'm so happy you got such a positive experience, you will never

forget it!

A forced rep is when your partner or spotter helps lift the weight slightly

when you are starting to tire out and get stuck. By having that person help

you, you can probably push out at least another 3 reps! You can't force rep

by yourself.

If you go to my site and see the picture of me force-rep-ing , you'll

see a little bit of what I mean.

You got it! Make sure you remind me and we make a definite plan and time to

do it. It would be even more awesome to get you, Gloria, Jen, Randee,

Miranda, and the rest of the girls in the gym with me AND Hank, so that way

he can teach me more about coaching those 10's!

You might want to exerperience your 10 starting with an exercise that you

like to do or that you can endure significant stress with. For me, it was the

bench press. Just keep going till your muscles won't move anymore, they are

tired, fatigued and just won't work anymore. If you could pull yourself up,

or push the weight down, even 1/2 way, but you stopped...then it's not a 10.

My new rule about this is " if you can complete the rep, then you can do one

more. "

Try that out. We'll keep working together to get this phenomenon down into a

teachable style that everyone can do successfully.

Okay, but does it count if you start contorting yourself into all sorts

of strange shapes in order to complete the rep, while making noises that

have your husband wondering how you could possibly be in labor again

when you aren't pregnant! (Fortunately, this is done at home and not in

a public gym!)

Sharon toooo funny, that's what I sometimes do to reach my 10's when I

don't have a spotter, I also workout at home. LOL :} Taz - we do

what it takes to get the job done!

Strange noises count...contorting your body and breaking form doesn't count.

Complete the reps in good form so as not to hurt anything. The trick is to

remain in good form and work to fatigue. If you stay in good form then the

muscles you are working will fatigue. You will be tempted to initiate other

muscles to help, but don't do it.
